Coming down to earth

I'm with my 92 year old Aunt. We're spending 3 days together. At first, getting used to each other was an adjustment, I'm pretty sure for both of us, but for me. I saw truths about her today that I've learned so well at the monastery. Like anyone she's commandeering her life, proud etc.. and has her way of communicating and I know I do too. I know I can be a challenge. I think at the very heart of it is dealing with the chaos we each bring to the moment and the situation. Whether it's momentary insecurity or intensity etc etc I know we each bring that to the party. I can't idealize her, not fair to either of us, but I do so love her. She's a good egg and is a master at taking care of her life even if it's not always feeling good or the way, some way I wish things were. We're real people and not a Hollywood film. Take the good that you can get from an interaction and filter away to get the gold!
