come saturday morning.......xoxo

outside my windows......... the world is possessed in subtle beauty.
everything is covered by fresh rain.......a light frosting of fog.  the birds are quiet. so very quiet.  i am making bacon.  annie is sitting on top of the rolling files and rio is making a perimeter search of the interior borders.
it is slightly cool in the kitchen sitting with my back to the french doors.  it is time to rotate the table so i can see out the front and the back.........with the table centered i will be just warmer enough to enjoy my writing perch.  sigh, i left my sweater in the bedroom.
wish i had a robot to go get it.
got up to flip the bacon.  right wrong or indifferent bacon reminds me of Iowa mornings growing up.  the climbing roses and the knock out roses have bloomed one last time...........they are glorious.  next to them stand the hydrangeas.  now limp, weary woebegone stalks and brown tired flowers.  such a contrast........between a final glorious shot of crimson beauty and the acceptance by the hydrangea that winter draws near.
today's plan is to focus on food donations.  thanksgiving is so close.........i am certain i can find food stuffs more than i need to be given to local families in need.  there is a food drive at the church and at my local grocery store.  need to get my items together in time so they can be distributed.  my thoughts on giving?  it's only seems like a small thing to one who has food.......it can be everything to the one you help.
when my children were young, we used to go in and sort the toys.  we would put together toys, games and add things like fresh crayons, story books, coloring books and paints..........and go visit women's shelters.  sometimes people don't quite get this..........toys, games?  why..........for a young mother with her world upside down, in turmoil.......in a small room with several young children...........being able to give them some normalcy, some playtime is an incredible gift and far beyond the mother's reach.
there are many small ways to give..........and giving feels good.  breakfast is rapidly overcooking here........time to break my fast and finish watching the movie about the aging memory impaired man with the robot.  which by the way is wonderful.......on netflix starring Frank Langella.
hugs to you and you and you...........sparrow

Hugs to you. Great goal today. I so enjoy reading your view on things and hearing about the moments of beauty you describe. Rio and Annie are lucky to live with you.

Sounds like a lovely day. Hope your breakfast was delightful, your critters reported back that the borders are all secure and that you found lots of food stuffs to pay it forward. Giving rules! xxoo

I think it\'s wonderful that you taught your children to understand the spirit of giving at an early age. It\'s awesome that you went and sorted toys and helped those poor moms occupy their precious children!!

Have a restful Saturday, Sparrow. BTW, I love that song!

The scent of bacon frying is as good as any expensive perfume. My mouth is watering thinking of it. I\'m so glad you and your kids could help those in need - that was an important part of my past as well. It\'s still very important but I\'m more of the check writer now rather that the food sorter or toy box\"er\" upper.
