Cold Weather
I am watching CNN and seeing that the cold weather does not have the decency to stay in Canada and the Northern states!
We are used to freezing temperatures and a lot of snow (although we have had more than usual). We have parkas, boots, mittens and scarves to brave the cold. I know that the cold feels much worse when you aren't accustomed to it. I hope all my SOTH are keeping warm.
I have been in a bit of a blue funk since New Years. It is a bit of a let down after the hustle and bustle of Christmas.

It was so cold this morning, when I left to drive to the dentist at 9:00 it was only 22 degrees. I live in Mississippi and when temps get that low (very seldom) we usually have ice storms. Thank God, we didn\'t this time and they say it will warm up this week end.
I think most of us have been in a blue funk. The holidays are so sad and hard to go through. I for one, am glad they are over. Without our children, they will never be the same...

We are used to cold temps in Utah but I know so much of the country is getting slammed. I spoke with my dad yesterday in NYC and it was 4 degrees.
I always look at January as my month to get inside projects done. We\'ve been painting, going through a lot of \"stuff\" that seems to accumulate and just trying to put one foot in front of the other as best as possible. The extreme cold does make for so many challenges for everyone and I\'m with Nora... You can keep it up where you live. LOL!
What trips are you planning Marlene? I know you always have something fun you are cooking up. :) I do understand what you are describing and send also a warm bowl of chicken soup filled with lots of veggies. :)

You\'re right Marlene the extremely cold weather has hit many more areas this year. Here in Ohio we\'ve just had 2 days below zero with wind chills down to -20. Today supposed to get up to 20 & this weekend up in the 40s. Heat wave!
My husband & I are venturing out today after being cooped up for 3 days. Yay!

We\'ve been snowed in and I love it!! Minus 28F......all schools and businesses closed. Of course, I had no-where to be so easy for me to enjoy. Warming up today, though. It is a funky time of year, as you say - kind of no-man\'s land after New Year until spring and holidays always rub these wounds more raw.

Even down here in Arkansas we have had single digit nights. Our kitchen sink pipes froze. But it\'s getting better now.
I\'ve been in a funk also. Just want to sit in bed and read all day. I\'ve read 4 Pearl Buck Novels since the beginning of the year. Imperial Woman, Good Earth, Sons and House Divided. Love her books even though I don\'t normally read Novels. Just finished the last one last night. Now I don\'t know what to do with myself.

We are not used to it here in NC...it has been 150 years since we have had this low of temperature! We had school delays the last two mornings due to cold weather...yeah...I know you are laughing!
The weather conditions in the last few years have been more extreme than I remember as I was growing up. More snow, rain, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes and they are much more violent...Everyone please be careful...
I am holding you personally responsible for all the cold weather! Here in sunny s.CA, it\'s been 70 and too hot at noon. Do think of coming to visit us sometime. I\'d love to meet you both. Abby
Please take your cold weather back... we have been having our coldest temp in 20 years, was -60 with the wind chill on Monday - had a heat wave Tuesday when it was up to 3 - still below 0 wind chill. Of course today it is raining & in the 30\'s. Gotta love winter in Chicago!!! Hugs, AnnS
Even here in FL it gets cold last Tuesday the 7th it was down in the 20\'s with wind chill it felt like mid teens. This is sunny FL we should be mild. The leather jacket came out and I found a warm scarf for my neck. The ankles were left out in the cold forgot to buy knee socks.
