They use me here to do most services. The other priests don’t have a regular schedule and they very often get sick. Today I am doing a new service, a memorial at the gravesite of a parishioner. I hope it goes ok. They keep asking me if I could do things and I keep saying yes. They give me lots of time to rest in between which is good. Things are good. I suppose because i keep available for them, that is why they allow me to take mornings off now and then.

Thanks Jan, lately I’ve been thinking about mortality. I googled my mom’s friends yesterday only to find they too have passed. It amazes me but I’m understanding that ‘death happens.’ Today I conducted a couple of memorials at the graveyard here today. It felt powerful and an honor. People were gathered and respectful and crying. Again, it’s a poignant honor. All of us gathered together to honor a person and also in a way how we each will be there one day.
embracing my mortality gives me a deeper appreciation for life. the older i get, the more opportunities i have to embrace my mortality.
learning to use, "no." as a complete sentence gives me more time to appreciate.
