Church

Okay went to church tonight again.  The men and women have separate groups.  The guys do a Bible Study.  The women do a DVD that has been the same person for over 2 years.  I don't like it. Tired of it, but anyway go cause usually my hubby won't go if I don't.  He really likes his class.
Anyway, every Wednesday nite either the leader and always the DVD speaker will bring death of someone,  I really get so disgusted with it.  I am dealing with it enough on my own.  So finally, the leader starts talking about an elderly man who had died recently but I already knew the story as I had talked to the family a couple weeks ago.  But she decided to talk 15 mins. about his death.  Which is fine, he had  a long life.
Finally, they turn on the DVD, what does she said. " There is a dear wonderful Christian woman in our church that died of a horrible cancer.  I just decided this was not for me.  One of the ladies turned to me and said I dont' blame you as I walked out.  I think the speaker on the DVD uses what she thinks is a sad story to get attentions.  She talks how bad it is for her loss.  Worst loss ever.  At first I though she had lost a child to death, no she had taken care of a child that went back to live with his mother.  She was not to be his mother and it was family, so she still sees him.
So anyway, I just went to the church office and looked at papers, went out side and took pic of the sunset with my phone.  Finally it was over and I told my husband, i just can't keep doing this every Wednesday nite, go listen to someone talk about death, cancer , etc just losing my son to that horrible disease.
So my husband and I have agreed, since he likes the class, he will go and I will go to my grandson ballgame.  That way I am not continues having to be so sad during the day and go hear about death, when we should be going to get a blessing.
So that is how my day ended.
I am thankful that my husband decided to keep going and give me a break..from it all.
Thanks for listening to me vent.

Good compromise--it is so important to be able to communicate what your needs are and I\'m glad that your husband understands. It doesn\'t always work to do everything together! Take care--hugs, Diane

Hey, If your husbands class is so great, why not try his class. Are there any Hospice groups in your area that you could hook up with? I have only gone to one, yesterday, so I can\'t legitamately comment on them. The grandson\'s game sounds like better therapy anyway. Relax and try to get some sleep.

LOL re: you go to your grandson\'s ballgame! Great solution!

I\'m sorry your Bible class is such a downer. Sometimes it\'s hard to understand why people think what they\'re saying is inspirational and helpful when it\'s just the opposite!

Love that you got a photo of the inspiring sunset instead!

Love and hugs ~ Debbie

I think the ballgame sounds like the thing to cheer you up. I think as long as it is your choice to go, and you aren\'t going to be in a position to have to talk about Kenny (Is it Kenny\'s son\'s game?) then I think it will probably be a fun, \"upper\" experience. The other one sounds like it would drag most people down. Yuk. I like that you are starting to let your feelings and intuition lead you. You are being honest with yourself! Love, Cherie

I\'m glad that you did what was right for you, instead of finding a way to continue doing something that was wrong for you.So glad to hear that your husband was willing to adjust also.Have you heard about Sid Roth and Home church yet ? My friend was telling me a little about it tonight .I \'m going to look it up on-line and see what it\'s about.I\'ll let you know if I find anything worth sharing on that .Have fun at baseball !

I could not do that either! Glad that your hubby is still going to go to his class. Watching your grandson play ball sounds way more what you need. Hugs.

The church group sounds quite depressing and not at all uplifting. Why separate groups for men and women?

Is there a reason you cannot join your husbands class? If you can\'t join him, go to the baseball game. I haven\'t been able to enjoy church for a while now, I understand,,peace Nora

I don\'t blame you for walking out on that class. Why do something if it isn\'t helping you but is, in fact, depressing you more. Your husband sounds very understanding and I\'m sure your grandson will love having you cheer him on at his ballgame. May you find peace in your decision. Truly your friend, BarbaraWawa

The group does sound to depressing to me if I were you I would also choose to go to be with my grandchild instead. Our living children keep us going as we grieve the ones in heaven.

Being at you grandson\'s game sounds perfect! So much or our spiritual growth and life is found in living and being with our families and friends. It is so wonderful that you and your husband can talk about this together and decide to do what is best for both of you. You are taking good care of yourself right now and that is great!! Peace and Love, Anne
