Chocolate Cake

A friend from church mentioned to me that Father Roger loves chocolate cake. I've noticed that he hasn't been his cheery, positive self lately. He hasn't been feeling well for some time. This past Sunday I noticed that he was trembling as broke up the Communion wafers. Lately, it seems that his mind is on other things other than the Mass.
So, I thought I'd follow Joanie's recommendation and make him a cake. I found an edible decal online of a Bible and Chalice, which blended into the icing perfectly.
As it turns out, my husband ended up putting on the finishing touches to the cake. Upon presenting Father with it, his face just lit up. At dinner in the Social Hall after Mass, Barbara tells us that as soon as everyone left the church, Father Roger gathered up his cake and ran.
At least the mystery of why he didn't come to dinner was solved. Just seeing him light up so much was inspiring.
