chili time.......first chili of the year.
.....slept all day. so good morning, time is 4:30 EST.
but yesterday was pretty good.....got my hair done. i can see again, it looks nice and smooth.....Randi did a good job! it cost a little more than the last place but she did things right. sometimes you have to weigh cost against bad hair MONTHS!
it rests on my shoulders in front.....i've grown comfortable with my pale gray hair. it has grown whiter since 2010.......still remember my niece calling me ol' moses head! mercy!
Randi (hair cutting girl) is leaving Sunday on a big trip......with pals. They are going across the Atlantic to Greece, then to Budapest and finally to Iceland......the city of Reyjkavik. She said they get to stay free in Greece because of relatives.....they were able to rent an entire house in Budapest for $45......guessing a night? not sure......and they picked Reyjkavik because they thought how unusual to see a place like Iceland........so fun to hear of young healthy people having a big adventure. Pray all will go well with their travels!
i have quick chili simmering on the stove top. the original plan was to make sliders for dinner, make more patties with the rest of the meat for later......then i realized i also had two thin steaks sitting in the frig i had forgotten. uhhhh oh! feel too wonky to take on as much as i had planned, so chili it is.......meanwhile the steaks are in a roasting pan, turning them into almost roast, plan to add potato chunks in an hour......a little different than broiling the steaks on cast iron. prefer this way, but i'm in need of sitting so easier wins.
i can live with it. mia was playing like the wind under the chair i'm sitting on.......having a real fun time! in and out of the chair skirt....tugging and pulling on something. she managed to yank the chair inspection tag clean off....this chair was inspected by no. 29 on 11/15/02. so now we know........lol.
need to bake banana bread at some point, three bananas ready to go.....just need the baker to step up! after the hair cut i got the stuff to make a desert to take to Stella's on Friday. she invited me to come to a small party at her home at 6:00 pm. i got angel food cake, frozen strawberries and cool whip to make that easy party dessert. have them slowly thawing in the frig......will make it tomorrow so the berry juice can seep into the cake. so yummy!
she invited me to a party last saturday but i felt too rough to go out......plus i had promised myself and mia that we would get her low cost vaccinations from the gwinnett county animal shelter. i had gotten the shot kit from the tractor supply company but i managed to break it......as i was about to insert the needle into the scruff of her little neck the needle broke off one way and the medicine went all over the kitchen counter......that was a loss of ten dollars. man....! so i regrouped and luckily spied a notice via NEXT DOOR about the low cost vaccines. it's covered by an all volunteer staff of the nicest folks! all sweet pet loving gals........the cost for Mia's shots was $ten dollars. a great deal......so instead of the saturday vet clinic costing $49.00 even with the broken syringe i still saved $30.00. so good......
mia freaked us all out last night......a big crash, that little stinker.....i came into the kitchen and a piece of framed art work was now on the floor in several pieces.......luckily the glass didn't break. that little girl is kooky and very ambitious! not sure what was happening, maybe there was a bug on the glass of the artwork? who knows......just noticed my curtains are all askew in the living room.....for someone so small she sure leaves her mark everywhere! right now she's playing hockey with a plastic wrapped mint.....she's a charming ever busy little missy!
the new sofa comes tomorrow.......so excited! the old sofa leaves tomorrow, sort of sad.......silly how sentimental i am about stuff. but i is a sentimental slob......my current dilemma is dealing with some stuff on the main floor, the trunk, two rungs and two chairs need to go upstairs.....and i don't have the woman power to do it. of the five pieces i could reasonably tackle one of the rugs and the two straight chairs at some point, but the big rug and the heavy trunk are beyond my wheelhouse. debra suggested that i offer to buy the sofa movers lunch and give them twenty dollars in exchange for helping me with the items going up stairs? what do you think? it might work......not sure? need help and don't want to make anyone cranky with me for asking.......i guess they can always say no.....i know from long experience with pianos that the piano movers hate surprises like that...being roped into moving other stuff beyond or having to take on stairs that nobody bothered to mention before they arrive......but i will still ask. otherwise i'll be fighting bruises on my feet and legs til the trunk is out of my bedroom. if only there was enough room at the foot of my bed the trunk could live there, but it's tooooo big. rats.
time for dinner.......my ears, throat, glands all that all hurt. and i'm still really tired.........but that's how it goes the day after a day out .....i'm lucky for any day out during a crash........but it's still hard not to resent all the sleeping. i worry will i be able to sleep at bedtime, will it throw me off for days and days.......the chili smells good, i hope i have some low sodium saltines. i don't like chili without crackers......don't care about cheese or onions or anything else on top, but please give me some crunchy childhood soup crackers! love you, thinking of you, your life, day........needs, worries, wants........praying for blessings to fall upon your heart and home! xoxoox,r uthei. oops, ruthie. the end.

Aren't kittens fun! Mia sounds so darned cute. I am glad she has you and I am also glad that you found a place for reasonably priced shots
I don't think I could give mine a shot. Mia sounds like she is keeping you on your toes.
Yeah for a new sofa, and I think the idea of offering lunch and twenty bucks to help move those items you need to be moved. It is worth asking, all they can say is No.
Hope you enjoy your party/gathering and the dessert you are going to bring sounds lovely. Enjoy your chili and I am with you I like crackers with my chili. too.
Hugs ♥ and pats for the fur kids.♥♥
