checking in......r u ok?
chairs were tossed, broken branches everywhere........4 sections of fence are down.......one section broke apart and scattered. yup, we had high winds - strong storms. 3.62 inches of rain yesterday........that's a lot of wa-wa.
moving kind of slow......my phones are out of order. i just plugged my computer back in this morning and let the water out of the tub. advised to have water in tub in case the toilets wouldn't flush, this would allow one to pour water into the toilet bowl so one may flush......moving on.
the phone just rang, i jumped like a startled kitty, now i wonder does this mean that my phones only work when my computer is plugged in? hmmmm.......and then it starts working again after a few minutes time delay?
so far i've had breakfast, showered, dressed, tidied the kitchen and wished for more strength. pre-storm i brought in the odds and ends decorating the front porch......a watering can, an iron rabbit and such.......plus outdoor throw pillows and pads. then i laid the chairs down in hopes of that keeping them from flying far far away......
brought the rolling trash can into the garage, some smaller tables, a glass table top.........lots of stuff that all needs to be put back. the yard has so many limbs, none super huge, just a very impressive amount of random broken wood EVERYWHERE.......what a mess.
the majesty of wind and rain. the red chairs in the back are toppled on top of the fire pit......whooooops.
will need to get someone to remove the entire fence now. take a breath. got laundry going, these house mouse chores make me feel a bit more in control when i'm not sure how to proceed with bigger problems.
they say clear skies and sunshine are coming soon.......my goodness. hope so.......
praying for all folks hindered and affected by storms.......for all those evacuated, for all those staying in as clean up goes on......for all those without power, for all those in need of food to get through this. i went to the store sunday night, there was NO BREAD......NO FROZEN VEGGIES......the empty veggies shelves seemed odd to me, but then i was also there to get stuff to make veggie soup, so maybe we all think alike? got storm? eat hot soup. makes sense to me.
checked in with sam last night, he got frustrated with me, see i want to replace the fence and he thinks it's a total waste of my money. maybe so.......and yet well it's my feelings here...... he said something about how it could be taken down and then drug to the curb for removal a little bit every week. how would i do this? how would i drag all that fence to the curb......which is what i said outloud. then he said i sounded irritated and he didn't want to deal with it......me or the irritation i guess........it was quiet so i said ok um goodbye then......yeah, i felt a little hurt. why? well the psychology is primarily that i now feel that instead of discussing it with me he was telling me no, like one would instruct a child. i could be wrong, but with that in my head and then him dismissing my objections to coping with broken fence pieces for say six months.......if i'm the one self dragging it down. let's just note that i went to the fence this morning and the biggest downed section landed on my rose bushes.......and it's very heavy. very big, nothing i can drag ever.
sigh, sigh, sigh. nobody is checking on me (by nobody i mean my kids.......) another sigh. i need to get over myself and just take a nap. for the rest of the week.
maybe later today i can regroup, take the trash can to the curb. clean off the patio, the sidewalk.......do something to restore order at Sparrow Cottage. oh yeah, in the midst of everything yesterday my new tv screen became a split screen. i could see the exact same tv show on 1/2 of the top of the screen and it's twin on the bottom half of the screen. i had been asleep, so when i awoke to this i thought i was in candyland upside down world.......hours later i finally figured that if i hit reset on the dish box maybe it would right itself..........and it did. but it toook HOURS for this tired brain to think to do that..........
mostly i listened to the split screen as it was discombobulating to my girly girl senses. whapsie doodle factory ......things will return to semi normal right? right!
praying for you, hugging you tight........God Bless You and Keep You Safe!

Wow! You got some of the storm! Sounds like it wasn't too bad.
I'm somehow working full time again and I don't really have the energy for it. It takes a lot of energy just to live! Oy!
Glad you are safe!
Hug hug!
Good to hear form you, Ruthie. I'm glad you are safe. Don't go outside and try to clean up the mess. Wait for Bruce or someone to come and help. Love you.
Glad you are safe Ruthie. We have shingles down and a few trees. I was so scared I did not sleep. I could hear the wind ripping the shingles off. My son & family are fine. We were very lucky. So much damage around us.
My surgery is on the 29th. I'm having one last CT is afternoon. To see if there are any changes. The surgery will last 6 hours. Praying I don't have cancer.
Sending much love and care your way. ❤️
Hey Ruthie. I'm in bed with the flu. Fever, golf balls in my throat, can't swallow. Feeling rotten. Anyway...Frank just came into my room and said. .You better check on Ruthie because her area was hit too. Funny hey. So far away in the land of Aus ,and my hubbby talks about you like you're a family member....the long lost cousin from Georgia or something. Lol! Better check on Ruthie and the storm. So now I'm here reading your journal with the latest update. Sounds pretty messy Ruthie...but hey nothing that can't be fixed. Sam was probably having some personal stress or something...maybe? Your kids know you're safe so that's the most important thing to them. At least there are no Alligators near your door like some places. It will all get fixed up. Just take some time to think about the best approach. Have a cuppa or two and think it through.
So glad you're ok and the house is standing strong. Now don't worry about anything.. ok? I'm lying here all fevered out like a half dead old chook..squawk..squawk. How much fun can a girl take ? Love you.xoxo
I have not visited your journals in awhile. I too am glad your okay Ruthie. The storm sounded awful
Makes me grateful for what i have.
Probably both of you were had a bad moment. (sam on the phone) I hope so anyway.
our fence just rotted down to the posts and fell over. we split the fix it cost with neighbor.
Hope you don't try and haul those down fence posts.and so sorry it landed in your rose bush.
am doing ok. hope you are too. ♥ and greenies
Glad to hear you survived the storm! I had relatives and friends in Florida that I was very concerned about - thankfully they all made it through. Loss of power, downed trees, but no harm to people or pets. I'm happy the same is true for you and the kitties. I could not drag one fence post to the curb, let alone an entire section!!! Sam is usually supportive- maybe he was distracted by a personal issue and wasn't really thinking of your limitations in regards to the fence. For me these days, all my home improvement decisions are based on my limited budget - time to accept my financial reality. Ugh!
