check up
Hi everyone,
We saw the doctor yesterday and just had bloodwork. Our oncologist is so friendly and we enjoyed the visit. He told us about his visit with the drug reps about Sutent. Steve is one of the longest patients on this drug and he mentioned Steve to them. He continues to tell us if its not "broke don't try to fix it". We agree with that.
He also mentioned a new option that is happening now. Votrient along with an i-v. I should have listened more closely and written down the name. If any of you want that information I will contact him and get it.
Steve is doing really good now. No pain in his side. He is blessed and we are so thankful. I don't have an answer as to why he can take Sutent and so many others can't. I don't question, I just thank God.
It is a beautiful day in NC. The sun is shining and the temp is 60 degrees. A lot of farmers are concerned about the fruit trees budding to soon. We really have not had a really cold winter, my Dad used to say we needed the cold to kill all the bugs.
Steve will be 65 in April! I remember when cancer struck he was only 51. We talked then about him never reaching retirement. It is plainly clear that God had other thoughts on that. When the cancer came back in 2002 he was told to go home and take care of his affairs! I say this to encourage all the "newbies" on this site. Don't give up, fight with all you have. NO ONE know your days on this earth. We are all appointed to die in GOD'S time, not theirs.

Loved reading this, Wanda. Steve truly is a miracle. I, too, believe that none of us will leave this earth until it\'s God\'s time...then nothing will stop it. We all must continue living each day to the fullest and being grateful for all our blessings.
It\'s gorgeous here in SC too....65 degrees. We do need some cold, but it\'s not looking hopeful. Our biggest problem here is mosquitos. They\'re still out in February, which is unheard up. Guess this warm weather keeps them breeding. Yuck!

Dear Wanda,
Truly pleased at Steve\'s good fortune and his ability to look cancer in the eye and then spit in it! Did they ever think that possibly Steve has achieved \'complete remission\'? Perhaps the cancer is all gone and that is why he continues to do well, and that any shadows in his scans are just old stuff/scar tissue or what have you? Wouldn\'t that be great. Wish I knew too why there are stories of those who have gone on for years, and others who succumb far more quickly. I have fervent hope that it is not something that we did or did not do, or rules we did or did not follow, or any human errors that those in charge did or did not make, but I shall never feel fully confident that is the case.

Steve is a true miracle and you have and are a great big part of Steve doing so well too.. Don\'t ever forget that !!! I beleive that some people get on a chemo or an mRCC drug and it just is meant to work on Steve\'s chemistry in his body and i beleive Sutent is an excellant drug.. I am so happy for you both, 2002 till now is alot of time and please always tell the newbie your story, it gives us all so much hope.. thank you for sharing this with us all..

Dear Wanda, I hope Steve can develop human antibodies for this cancer so he will be able to stop all these horrid drugs and still thrive. You are right, we are all in God\'s hands and the only thing we can do is try our best. I hope you enjoy the sun and warmth. Love, Linda
Dear Wanda.......How wonderful to read your posting. It it truly a miracle and you both are truly blessed. As you have said only God knows our days. We have had a mild winter too. It was 58 yesterday. Colder today but no snow for the rest of the week. I fear that we will get slammed soon. Take care you too........Hugs Jane
