Chapter 8 Final Chapter
Objection #8: I Still have doubts, so I can't be a Christian. This is the one I have the most problems with. 1. What part of Anderson's story could you especially relate to? In what ways is your spiritual journey different or similar to his? Anderson came from a family who went to church every sunday, I diffently did not. I could relate to his doubts though, and about how his doubts led him to believe he was not a Christian.2. What kind of doubts do you wrestle with? I wrestle with trusting God, and God's Word. Is it possible that they're fueled by a motivation not to believe? If so, can you pinpoint why you're reluctant to pursue faith in Christ? I had never thought about but it could be, sometimes I do not want to give up things I know I should. I guess it is my sinful nature wanting to stay that way. But I think my bigger problem is that I have a hard time trusting people and that spreads over to God who will never let me down.(unlike most people). 3. How has your picture of God been affected by the family in which you grew up or the church you attended as a child? In retrospect, did you grow up with a biblically accurate view of God? Well my Dad I believe has affected my faith, because although he means well he would make promises and then not keep them. Also some other People in my life as a child were not trustworthy and that scarred me. I did not grow up with a biblically accurate view of God. Although I prayed alot, I didn't really know Him at all. I do feel like I know Him better now. 4. Which steps do you believe would be the most helpful to you? Why? Making the decision to believe is going to be a daily process for me, because I will be fine, and then the doubts will start up so I will have to start daily to believe. (If you get what I am trying to say.) Also I think learning more about Jesus and God will help and it is a good way to enter into a stronger relationship with them. Also actually following there teachings will also help. I have enjoyed this book, it spoke to me and clearified things, by being precise and asking the tough questions and not backing down. I think alot of Christian people have these questions and doubts but they are afraid of others thinking they are not Christians. It also gave me hope that I can have a better relationship with God and Jesus, and that they are there for me. Thank you Lord for all that you do and that you are there for me and those I love.
