CHAPTER 5

Objection #5 It is Offensive to Claim Jesus Is the Only Way. 1. What was your emotional reaction the first time you heard the claim that Jesus is the only path to God? The first time I heard it I was a child and I accepted it as truth because adults were telling me it was so.  Now when I heard that as a teenager and when I was in college, I thought it was rude and mean.  How could God send everyone else on Earth to hell because they didn't believe in Jesus.  I started to believe that as long as you were a Good person you would go to heaven.  Now that I am a born again Christian, I believe God will reach you and you will saved no matter where you are if you turn your heart and your life over to God.  2. Has your viewpoint changed since reading Ravi Zacharias interview? If so, how? He was able to articulate it for me, I believe that I believed it before. 3. Zacharias said: "The clear implications of Jesus saying he's the way, the truth, and the life are that, first, truth is absolute, and second, truth is knowable." Do you believe those two assertions about truth? Why or why not? I believe that truth is truth and that it is absolute and that God will let you know what is truth. If that made any sense.  4. how well do you believe Christianity deals with the four fundamental issues of life:Origin, meaning, morality, and destiny? I believe they deal well with it. Origin is covered in Genesis, Meaning is covered because Jesus gives you meaning you are no longer living only for yourself, Morality obviously the Word of God tells us what is right and wrong also the Holy Spirit Guides us daily, and Destiny God tells it plainly your destiny is either heaven or hell.5. Does the Bible's teaching on those topics correspond to your experience?  I believe so, I need to do more of what the Bible says, but the Bible is truth.6. Have you personally considered any other world religion? If so what did you find attractive about it? I was an agnostic for awhile I believed in God but that Christianity wasn't the only way. It was attractive because it was a very unconfronational way to be because I hate confrontation.7. What aspects of Christianity attract you and which ones repel you? Christianity is attractive because it is the way to Jesus and to God, I believe my life is in a better place, it has not made everything perfect but it has given me hope in life and in death.  It repels me because I am fearful that some of the people I love will not accept Jesus and therefore will not be saved and I will lose them. Also because if you see something wrong and God is prompting you to do something about it you feel you must and like I said before I hate confrontation.  8. The Bible says about God,"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." What three practical suggestions would you give a friend who wants to now how he or she can seek God that way? Have you taken those steps yourself and what has been the result so far? I would tell them to read the bible with the help of a bible study, also to pray to God daily, attend church with someone you trust.  These 3 things will help you to know God better and to seek Him with all your heart.  I am trying to do all three things and so far when I am diligent about them I feel close to God and that I am learning more about Him.   I am feeling really good today, I am babysitting for part of today, and later going out to dinner. Yay! This was a good chapter it helped me to think through where I stand on the whole subject. Thank you Lord!
