Changing a bad day into good
I was reading one of the post about flashbacks. It got me to think about another bad day in my life and what I did to change the bad memories to good. I had a very bad miscarrage years ago. It was a difficult time, ending in divorce and many sleepless nights. I survived, but every year on the anniversary, I suffered. One day I decided I wanted to change that. I was tired of dreading the day it all happened. Now, I rarely even remember the day. Most of the time it's a full week later before I even think of it.
How did I do it?
I scheduled good things on that day. Each year, instead of staying home and crying, I would schedule some sort of event: A party, a trip somewhere exciting, etc. The next year instead of the day being about loss, it was a memory of the events of the party, or how fun the trip was. After five years, I had five wonderful years of memories.
I remarried my husband six years later. He proposed to me again on that special day. So now, when I think of January 6, it's the day my husband proposed, it's the day I went on vacation. And it's the day of the party.

And that, my dear, is a lesson in how to turn a negative into a positive. Inspiring........and a story that brings a smile to a grumpy old man\'s face......Joe...:-)
That is exactly what I try to do! I\'ve learned to plan something, if at all possible, on the days that I know hold bad memories. It seems to work for me, and I, like you, then have good memories for that date.
