catching up.......xoxoxoxo
Good Morning Class.
I think it's the cooler mornings that has me feeling dreamy about elementary school. I am laughing because what I really remember is squirming in that uncomfortable child sized scratched up wooden desk during Indian Summer.......Momma's starch bottle got every inch of cotton I was wearing and I was not yet ready to be a stiffer buttoned up child. But after it cooled, the air felt so crisp and clean.........autumn is a personal favorite.
Ragweed is abundant, everyone is sniffing and dripping, leaking and suh-neezing a bit these days. God Bless You if you are affected and God Bless You cause you is dear you! So I have been roller coastering lately. I do stuff and then hunker down for some PEM TIME. Last week I was in a crashy bind, then started to feel a little better. One of my brothers called (Daniel) and he was ready for a marathon pow wow. I don't remember much about Saturday beyond my own soft bed........and Sunday was much the same. Then Sam called, wanted to come by. I got up and did a few honey dos.......made some stuff for us to eat. I didn't have any meat thawed, so I went with a light sauce pasta dish, corn on the cob, green beans, broccoli and cauliflower. Sort of a southern blue plate special nite. He wasn't expecting dinner, but it was nice to break bread with him. He had gone for a bike ride at the nearby park, he's looking very fit and healthy these days! (sigh, I'm pasty.........I need more color......fresh air, sun......not to get tan, just to look well um, alive-ish would be nice.)
Sam was leaving for NYC early Monday morning. So we talked about his trip. He has a meeting with the president of a company there and will be a guest in his home........he said that after his meeting, this man would be meeting with President Obama the same day.........that whole one degree of separation thing........made me grin......I said that's so weird, Sara at the same event where Mrs. Mitt Romney is the guest of honor and now you preceding a meeting prior to our nation's president. This is not a political anything, sometimes I think that only in America does stuff happen like this.......funny, odd but true. To random non famous regular people I mean......am I making sense sort of? Rhetorical.....seems like I wonder this often.
I did talk to him briefly Monday am, couldn't resist calling.......lol. He flew in to La Guardia......he was on his way to Manhattan but hadn't crossed the bridge yet. I said I am imagining the cabbie.......are you alright.......? Irrepressible Mom giggle........does he have a funny round hat? Does he mutter? Are you traveling at warp speed? I have a weird sense of the absurd, I am thinking about Men In Black, the movie......cabbies being the aliens......he says there is definitely a story to tell me later. I asked him to take pictures and to snag me some graffiti. He told me to hush, but I heard the smile in his voice. The first time he went to NYC he was in his teens and that is what I asked for. He brought me some paint spattered concrete, I loved it! AWESOME. He said I was more excited about his unexpected trip than he was...........well duh yeah! I travel approximately 10 to 15 miles a month on these mean country streets of quietville county southern usa...........need me some vicarious news of the world OUTSIDE!!!!!!! So many places I imagine, but have never seen.
I recuped via heavy rest and made it to my dentist appointment on Monday. Good for me. Met Melissa, met Terrie, met the good dentist. Nice folks, lovely.........was there for a long time. Almost 3 hours. Best part? My dentist listened, we made a plan for my dental care.......... what needs doing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. He thinks we can make some really grand improvements, so I am very hopeful. My gums have become very unhappy, tender.......found out I have gum disease, but don't know to what extent as yet. Sjogren's Syndrome has taken a toll on my mouth and I am not treated for but also have either TMJ or some kind of arthritis afflicting my right jaw in particular. Sometimes I think my whole skeleton is fusing tight and I'm gonna end up being a full-time straw using meal sipper........I hope not. That is not the way to think optimistically.
While my mouth was being propped open by creepy dental equipment, my bad, but no matter how hard I fight it I am not a dental fan.....it is not ever gonna be an ode to joy. I tried to explain the spoon theory to the dentist.......I didn't see the lightbulb coming on........so I went another route. He is sympathetic, but he has always been a healthy, energetic, athletic person...........he doesn't have a real point of reference in his life. I told him that I know it is hard to imagine a world like the one I live in, but if he could try he could really help me & others through this. He was very patient, listened intently.......seems very caring. I will have a crappy flare after every visit for the next however long that we are doing all this stuff to my poor little child sized mouth. I need us to be on the same page. His assistant Terrie was sharing part of her Father's story with me. He had polio as a boy, had to wear braces, was so very ill for a long time.........now that he is older he is having polio related health issues and it is a struggle. So let's pray for this girl's Dad.......ok, what am I holding back? The dentist called me "Miss Ruth"......ever watch "Driving Miss Daisy?" How old do we think Miss Daisy was? I am 56..........they are around my son's age, early 30's, but really "Miss Ruth?" My brother Daniel told me that having white hair is a sign of a crown of glory........I told him to stuff a sock in it. You should hear him chuckle........if we were in the same room I'd blast him with the biggest squirt gun he has ever seen! This was right after bragging to me about not having any gray hair yet. He is 61 and 3/4.......it is SO NOT FAIR. I am the littler sister. Stomp my foot and holler I will. Bratty brothers.........man.
There is a black and white kitty on the patio taking a bath in the shade. Awwwww, I startled the kitty, pretty light green eyes........this kitty has been hanging round a good bit the last couple of weeks. I hope that he has a family, I noticed two more homes in our subdivision have been abandoned. I also noticed that a young family just got a new wooden fence for their back yard, great! They have several small ones plus other neighbor children gravitate to their home, this will be much safer for them. They have always played in the front yard.......and I worry about some of the drivers that are less patient with the "we love our children" rate of speed necessary...........
Also noticed that another home has new siding, a lovely shade of light brown with yellow shutters, this family is green thumbed .......lots of lovely things growing in their yard over the last two years and lots of flowering baskets......yes, I am kind of jealous, but overall super glad for the picture they are creating. I get great ideas seeing their yard. So today I called to ask Donna the nursery lady about a tree vs crape myrtles in my front yard. I want something pretty to look at from my front window. Been thinking about getting a tree like Sam's coral maple. But we'll see. I'm trying to use the unspent gas money on a better view.
So Sara and Derian have decided to go away for their upcoming 5th wedding anniversary. It's just around the corner.......they booked a trip to Portland, Oregon. Near Mt. St. Helens, the beautiful coast of the Pacific of course........glad that they are getting away, celebrating their love.........I think it is very romantical..........yay. Sara is dizzy with buzy.
I made a date with her to help her get her passport in November. The plan is to do this if she lives through October with 3 brain cells of sanity. That kid overbooked herself.....mercy. I don't have a passport either, so what the heck I should get one too don't you think? If I ever need to flee the country after a long tedious time of careful consideration & planning I could go......it could happen........I would like to keep my dreams alive. 4 hours in Juarez in my 20's does not really give me much international flavor. Sigh, I'm so white picket fenced.........lol!!!!! I always thought I would travel around the globe.......ay yi yi yi.
What else? Well I am moving slow, but in good spirits. I did rat out my rheumy to her answering service today. I saw her the 3rd week of August and my scripts have still not been called in. I tried earlier in the month and nothing happened......tried to get through yesterday and today. Every voicemail message said this mailbox is full. They are a mess, is it not enough staff? Is it that the staff they have are inefficient? Are they all suffering from the same lack of concentration that the rheumy seems to be suffering from? I don't know. Changing doctors is often only good in theory sometimes. I am frustrated, but feel stuck. I like the doctor, like the staff, but the follow through is rough, the wait times are horrendous........sigh, sigh, sigh. In with the good air , out with the bad. I want my two prescriptions please, please contact my pharmacy. This is my prayer of the day.
Update on Carol, my darling sister. My niece tells me that Jeff is out of the their house. Then she says that she had him removed from the property, escorted off via a county sheriff. There is a lot going on, she is taking a hard line with Jeff and now I wonder, worry and try not to get too worked up about it all. She very specifically wrote that he was not allowed to take his computer's PC.......what exactly has been going on? Then she dropped a big piece of news.......that she has filed charges against him regarding adult neglect. There is much I do not know and I am hoping that Jamie will provide more details on what in the blue blazes in going on. My imagination can be so much worse than an actual, so I hope that she can provide details so we know more. She did say that after the duststorm settled down that Carol was smiling, was very relaxed and peaceful.......that it was a good thing to see in her Mom. So we continue to pray and hope for the best. I don't know what to think......was Jeff too ill with his own conditions to look after her any longer and everybody thought things were going better? Or has he been a really negative part of her world and he also became ill which was a separate issue altogether? What I thought and what I don't know ..........let's just say there is a big gap of information. What Carol was sharing may or may not have been accurate. I do know that Jamie is taking swift action in her mother's situation........I am hoping and praying for the best outcome. I know I keep saying this, but I don't know what to think.................I will withhold on deciding anything until I know more. And wonder if Jamie recently found out some things that changed everything..........ack, must stop about this now. Prayer is better.......subjective worry is foolishness.
It is a magnificently gorgeous day today...............................75 degrees, breezy, clear skies..........soft with sweet fresh country air just there for the breathing.....let's spend some time on optimism today. It can only help..............hugs, Ruth wants to still live in the "Miss-free zone"
P.S. I am behind on live e-mails, but I have been praying for ya'll............grabbing a snack and heading back to bed now. ........oh, Sara is loving the way the recording work is going on her EP, my little songwriting songbird baby........I'm feeling kind of bubbly today.......thank you Lord for this JOY!

Hi Ruthie! I enjoyed spending some time in your world today. In and out of crashing and PEM, are you? Ah, I SO get that.
Dental visits are always traumatic on all of us. I don\'t really know why. I don\'t remember any REALLY terrible experiences.....but the few \"OOPS\'es\" of hiting and exposed nerve
forgotten these teenage experiences, but NO...I\'d rather have labor. Thank you! Hope this guy is gentle and that good repairs can be made to your toofers!
Happy that you could live a few moments vicariously through your kids. Ain\'t it grand. Why not get a passport?? Oh yea, I can see it now. \"Where would you like to visit, Miss Ruth\".....\"Ma bed, if you please sir\"!! LOL.....I\'m so glad I lived in Florida for years. I was young and we used to take cruises for the weekends over to the bahamas, all the time. To be young again right? I\'m so thankful I was healthy growing up. My life was so active and full...of everything.
If your scripts are coming from a local pharmacy or mail in actually, you could have the pharmacy call the Rheumy\'s office. Turn it around. It always works. If the pharmacy calls and says \"so and so would like to refill...blah, blah....they will tend to it. The patient isn\'t important to the doctor. The money is. I know where of I speak. They don\'t care if you get your prescription when you need it. They have so much other stuff going on, that we are just a number to them, and \"they\'ll get to it, as soooooooon as they can\"...in the meatime, we wait and suffer, and it\'s all wrong. Please have your pharmacy call your doctor.
Loved living in your world for a few today Sparrow. Am picturing your neighborhood, the kids, the new fence, the trees, the kitty in the shade. Sounds like a nice place to vist.......rest well!!
Don\'t know what happened in that second paragraph. Parts got lost. But it was about the dentist, so subconsciously I was proabaly terrified even writing about it, and just brain fogged right out.....
Hi Ruthie...enjoyed reading your journal. That was nice Sam coming over & having dinner with ya. Sam in NYC a few hours from (My niece :) LOL. Wouldn\'t that be something. If only... Glad Sara is doing good & her & her hubby are getting away for their 5th anniversary. Sara sounds like a happy girl. I\'m with you with the dentist nerves. My dentist has to tell me to breath. I hold the chair so tight my knuckles turn white. I\'ve been having a rough few days too. Not sleeping much. I sleep a few hours then keep waking up. This week is my son\'s 36th birthday. (I\'m getting old!!!). Hope you get your meds & get things straight with your Rheumy. I go for my B-12 shot tomorrow. Gonna stop off at my Rheumy\'s office & get a copy of my bloodwork from the 14th. Have a good rest & wake up feeling better. Prayers for you & your family. Love ya dear Ms Ruth. :). Xo
Wow, what a whirlwind of activity! Nappy time is definately in order times about six! Glad to hear the happy and know that you are OK. I detest the dentist also, not fair to him since he is great but \"what Darla said\". LOL
Love to you Ruthie,
Connie
Glad to see you feel well enough to journal! I worry about you when you\'re silent! hug hug
Well Ruthie, you are only seven years older than me...
You have my sympathy too on the TMJ thingy...I get that too but it affects my left jaw. I have had a lot of problems, abcsesses, tooth extractions, ear operations all on the left side. Sometimes the pain has been excruciating and made me cry, but now it is mostly inflammation on my jaw, sometimes refferred pain causing toothache and Alex says a clicking sound I make when I talk that strangely I don\'t hear! What wonderfully strange afflictions we have. I too have a small mouth but can still force a lot of noise out of it when I feel like it. Can you tell I am hyper tonight. I am stressed out of my head with what is going on here...anyway, always enjoy reading your journal young Ruthie. Hugs from me xxx
