carny food for breakfast.....

yup, had a corn dog for breakfast......it was so good i had another one for lunch.  i got more, want one?

it's leftover from my own personal oscar party last night.  i picked up chicken wings, pizza, corn dogs & raspberries.  ok, there were some store bought chicken egg rolls but they got tossed after not even one full bite.  boy were they BAAAAAAD!

i got full from the wings & corn dogs, stored the pizza, 86'd the nasty egg rolls and never had any of the homemade panna cotta with those beautiful raspberries.......but i did break open a bag of peanut m&m's later on ......the oscars ceremony is a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng program. i called sam again after i ate to complain about not having enough room for junk food anymore, he got a kick out of that........i just can't eat a lot at one time anymore.  man.......i miss being a teen ager!!!!!!!

the oscars were good, i thought mr. jimmy kimmel did a good job.......sure, there were a few things he said that weren't my favorite but overall it's the most i've enjoyed an oscar awards program in well forever to be honest....(i know you're probably sitting there going NO LIE TO ME!!!"  ........despite "envelopegate" at the very end i still think he did a great job.  he took responsibility for what happened but in truth he did that as the host.......he didn't screw things up.

(in a nutshell it was the final award, The Oscar for BEST PICTURE of the YEAR!  Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway took the stage......it's the 50 year anniversary of Bonnie & Clyde.  the announced the films, then when it was time to announce the winner Warren Beatty paused......he seemed uncertain. Faye joked that he was "being impossible"....grabbed the card and announced that LaLaLand had won!

Applause breaks out, the producer/director and all the team take the stage......and then noise escalates here and there.  Something is off......confusing.  Someone blames Warren Beatty......he's trying to explain but not getting to the point. He said that the card has Emma Stone's name and the film name Lalaland.......  The producer of Lala land grabbed the envelope from Warren, we didn't know it was a different envelope.  The producer turned the card around and showed what it said to everyone at once.  (he cut to the chase.....) he said the winner for best picture is MOONLIGHT!

it was a bit of pandemonium but the Lala land folks filed backstage, the Moonlight folks took over center stage and gave their acceptance speeches.  It moved along, but my goodness.......I felt so bad for the producer/the director, for all of the lala land folks......the main thank you speeches had already been given before the real winner was announced......and poor jimmy kimmel apologized, let it all fall on his shoulders, said they would never have him back and he would be returning to his regular m-f job immediately.  oh my gooooodness.  what a mess......that's an oscar first.......

mistakes happen, they just do.  in light of the reality of what we face day in and day out this ain't the end of any world, but i felt bad that it happened...my goodness!)

i did invite sam to join me but he said he's just not into the oscars......i still think he would have enjoyed it......but that's prolly cause he really loves movies and this gives you another side of the whole la la land terrain.

......TODAY i decided to park the car on the driveway - turn the garage into a workshop for a day or two. Project 1 = spray paint a small shelving unit that had some water damage......it's thoroughly dry & still useful......not long ago i bought those canvas cubes w/handles to put in them. filled them with things that were sitting on top of the dryer/hot water heater.  (storage containers, random products (carpet cleaner, spot remover, etc.)  i have such limited storage in this home compared to any other home i've lived in.  it's workable, but tight....gotta get creative.

i put one of those cheap paint tarps on the garage floor.......trying to open this & spread it out was almost my undoing.  i started and then went into my room, pulled the covers on and thought GIVE UP LADY!  but after a bit i went back out there......faced it.  got it spread out......drug the white unit out there and hit it with white spray paint.  (the good news is that it's light!!!) i have continued to give it fresh coats of white paint throughout the afternoon.

2nd project?  a small blue tiled outdoor side table.  (yes, another thrift store find!) so far all i've done is scrub it down.  the tabletop looked funky, but now it looks bandbox fresh. then i turned it upside down and scrubbed the strong black iron legs.  deciding what color to spray the legs. the tiles are two different shades of blue.  marina blue and a medium baby blue.  maybe blue, maybe black, maybe white?  probably the color i have enough of will WIN!  lol......

the 3rd project?  i found a small table top vintage curio cabinet ummmm not sure, but a few months ago.  it's been sitting so patiently wondering why it came here.  to this place....only to be forgotten and left to grow dustier.  when i first bought it there was so much yellow nicotine on the glass that it seriously grossed me out.  bleccccchhhhhh.  but i got past that.......

today i took it apart, it has little wooden dealies that unscrew and so i did.  this opened it up into a lot of pieces.  they were dusty, a haven for some tiny spiders......and there was added dirt from sitting on the garage floor for an extendeed visit.  poor pretty thing.

i washed each piece......there are several shelves and so forth and a bunch of clear glass panels as well as mirrored glass panels.  i left them air dry a while and then went back to dry them by hand.  then i broke out the old english and got busy rubbing.

this happened over a period of hours.......lots of breaks in between.  if i need to sit or lie down that's what happens.  pinky swear.

the stupid part is that i gave myself a lovely manicure during the oscars......but today i neglected to dig out some of those latex gloves to protect my hands.   i have that old english residue stink going on.......really sexy furniture pheronomes to say another piece of furniture!!!  i got it out from under my nails but that scent is STRONG and my hands still have this slightly fake old english tan going on......LOL!

this too shall pass......the rain came just like the weatherman said it would......but it's light & pleasant so far.  the high winds of yesterday have passed -- it's not as chilly as yesterday either.

still have two more projects on the horizon.....

project 4 = a box of greeting cards.  i need to pick out/sort them into a more usable situation.  so i can find what i need......right now they are altogether in a few baggies but not separated by type.  this sounds like not a big deal but for me it is........cause most of the time i'm too out of it to sort through all these lovely stinkin' cards.......this means i delay sending cards.  so this is a must do deal.

i got a card today from a lady w/ my city letting me know one of the owls is in hospice care.......she is dying of cancer.  she is soft spoken, sweet, intelligent and easy to care about......a very nice lady named Dawn.  she deserves a visit but a card is something i think i can do......that's a first must do.

project 5= gluing a piece of crystal back together.  i couldn't find crytal glue at wal mart or home depot .....i went ahead & got gorilla glue, (recommended by a fellow wal mart shopper) it has both a brush and nozzle which i think will be a big help.  it says it woks in ten seconds......i don't believe it......guess we'll see.

this may be the most boring journal but it is good for me, to see later that i had things in mind ....things to do, things that help propel me from day to day to day.

i have a QUESTION........does anyone know of a good solution to added bedroom lighting?  i have lamps on each nightstand and overhead light, but at night when i want to read an article or say do a crossword puzzle it's not enough light.  i was wondering if any of you know of a good moderately priced lighting solution?  i have a wooden headboard......i was thinking of maybe one of those lights that attach to a headboard, but i don't know if they are good or what ......

i also gave up on a stitching project cause the lighting is not good enough in bed.  ......hard to believe that my eyes are growing old with the rest of me, what's that all about?

i love ya lots.......pray for you, and pray that you also feel God's infinite love holding you/warming your spirit......when i close my eyes and think of how much he loves us.......it warms me from the inside out in a happy hopeful way.......take care, be safe.......that offer for corn dogs still stands....or leftover pizza........!  the smooth creamy panna cotta too....with or without fresh raspberries!

huuuuugs, ruthie

Mm. I'm coming to your next Oscar's party, but hold the nasty egg rolls. Egg rolls are tricky. They can be good or VERY, VERY BAD. Yeah, the Best Picture fiasco was a mess. I felt bad for everyone on that stage because it was awkward for everyone. I'm super dizzy. Please remember me in your prayers.

I like your idea of looking for one of those lamps/lights that attach to your headboard. Might help

A light..... I have this floor lamp (with a white plastic shade) that came from Walmart - 10 bucks, maybe? It has a narrow stem and stands over 5 1/2 feet tall, but the top 1 1/2 feet is bendy flexible. I bend it to suit myself, and the switch is directly beneath the shade. One of those might sit beside your bed, or even behind the headboard. If you want, I'll send you a photo of the lamp.

I'm not that into the Oscars, but I think the Moonlight people and the LaLa Land people handled the snafu with amazing style and grace.

Curio cabinet sounds like a real treasure! Glad you're feeling well enough to do stuff, and more stuff!

Oh, I emailed those recipes to you - let me know whether or not they go through. I also have a mean recipe for baked picnic ham slices, if you're interested. Has to bake for two hours, but simple and easy!
Hugs!
