Cardinal
I remember reading somewhere that the sight of a cardinal was a sign that the soul of a loved one was visiting you. I don't know if it's true or not, but I believe almost anything that tells me my baby might be near.
My husband put up a bird feeder in our backyard and the birds have discovered it. Most are beautiful, tiny, multi-colored finches that fight over the huge feeder as if there is a shortage of food. There are 2 cardinals that visit, one male and one female. I am not sure if luring them in still counts, as far as getting a sign. Like I said, I want to believe it's a message from Cassi...I said a quick "Thank You" to her as I saw the bright red flash...departing too soon.
It's killing me...I know it's a part of it, the ups and downs. I know all the good things, I know she is happy, safe and healthy now. I still want her back.
My mother is elderly. She was not in great health before we lost Cassi. Of course her spirit is much more burdened now...I won't say broken because she is strong, full of love, but if something happened to me it might be the final blow. I am sorry to say this, but it is probably the only thing that keeps me going sometimes. I have thought about writing a letter...hiding it, just in case...then I think about my mother and I am stuck. I think about my precious furbabies that I have spoiled so much that no other mommy could take my place. I have no doubt my husband would remarry, he isn't the type to live alone, and I am okay with that. But would she love my dogs??? Would she resent my dogs??? I can't bear the thought of it.
I am just so sad...no mother should ever have to feel this way..

Yes, no mother should ever feel like this, I completely agree.
Many people have said that Cardinals are signs or messengers. I believe it too.
Tight Hugs,
Terry
My mother\'s sign for my late brother were cardinals. In fact, she remarked so many times that she would be having a really painful day and look out her kitchen window and the bush right below it would be full of them... They are majestic birds and whatever can bring a moment of feeling close to Cassi IS the gift.
As I read your journal I can feel your deep sadness and if only one thing is keeping us earth side then that\'s all we need. Whether it\'s a mother, a husband, other children, grandchildren, our fur babies... I have no doubt that if something did happen to you that it would be the final blow for your mother. You understand this in ways that you never could have before and with that knowledge comes the reason for you to remain here, for each of us to stay earth side and to try to learn how to carry this loss as you are. Some days I\'m in the valley, other days climbing the mountain side and have had a few mountain top experiences as well in the six plus years.
You are right, Gina, no mother should ever have to experience this intense anguish and sorrow, EVER! Deepest of sighs.
With you and caring...
XO Joanie
Cardinals are such beautiful birds. I also believe they are signs as well. Shortly after my son passed, there was a cardinal that kept knocking against the window of his bedroom. It was there for several weeks. I have also seen them land on the branches around my rooftop when I was in my darkest moments.
Whatever the sign may be, I try to keep my eyes and mind open to it. It helps me to keep the communication going with my son and brings me comfort.
I\'m totally with you Gina. And we survive through this heartache, reaching for semblances of joy, peace and comfort in the spiritual presence and energy of our babies that have passed and the physical presence of our loved ones still here.
Sending you love and peace dear friend,
Diane
Right outside our kitchen window, in our neighbors bushes, a beautiful male cardinal sits in any weather. Have always thought of it as Billy visiting. Hugs, Ann
Cardinals for sure! I had anxiety for a long time thinking of the \"future\". I also thought of writing a letter regarding my \"things\", what they are and what to do with them if my time is up. Eventually my thoughts did change and those things really didn\'t matter anymore. I did go through a short period when I was getting rid of \"stuff\" so the rest of my family wouldn\'t have to deal with it. It\'s strange what this horrible journey does to our minds. We tend to think of everyone but ourselves. It\'s also comforting to know that I\'m not alone dealing with these mind boggling thoughts. Much love and big (((hugs))), xoxo Sharon
I too believe cardinal are signs of our loved ones. I seen cardinals for 2 weeks after Kealy passed. Now I see them every so often. It seems to be when I need her the most. Of course I tear up every time I see one.
I used to think I was crazy for thinking this but now to hear others feel the same way makes me feel better.
Love and prayers to you.
Shelly
I could have written this myself I wish I could wake us all up from this horrible dream.....(((HUGS))) I do see little messages from Shell...in the form of Red Stars....I find them a lot....random places and it is always Red Stars....so yes I know she is saying Hi Mom! Take care of yourself...you need to live for Cassi she wants you to.....xxoo gretch
Yes our children want us to live for them. We can help each other along the way as we do continue on this journey till we are with them again. Be good to yourself. Hugs, Kathy
