Car Accident
What a month, I will not be sad to say goodbye to October. Last night, DH and I got into a car accident. Thankfully, we are both ok but it's been a rough 24 hours. We were double rear-ended and our car is in pretty bad shape, hoping its not totaled but will find out tomorrow. I was having some back pain, so the firemen and EMS workers thought it would be good for me to go to the hospital. What I didn't realize was that this meant they strapped me down on a gurney with a headpiece and took me to the hospital in an ambulance. The car accident was bad enough, but the hospital experience was where the real traumatizing was.....they took me to a hospital in the hood and I saw things a person should never have to see or experience, and this is coming from a girl who lives in New York City, where we are no strangers to "interesting" sights, sounds, smells, etc. Anyway, throughout the course of the night I was asked 3 different times about when my last period was, and when I said August, I got weird looks and was asked to explain so of course I had to tell my story of my miscarriage and D&C repeatedly which was something I obviously did not want to do. But the icing on the cake was what my mom said to me. Most of the time my mom does not say the right things in most situations, which is why its been surprising but its made me happy that she has been saying all the right things after my mc, and has been more supportive than I would have thought. So last night when I tell her about the accident and being in the hospital, she said to me: "well thank God you weren't pregnant, see isn't it a good thing you aren't pregnant anymore!?" OMG I nearly fell over on the stretcher I was laying on. I know what she meant, that this would have been an even worse situation if I was pregnant, but come on, to be "glad" I'm not pregnant because of a car accident!? Um, no. Turns out the people who got hit and hit into us, the woman in the passenger seat is pregnant with twins and started having pains and/or contractions.
Ugh, what a month....hoping and praying that November is better....
