Car Accident

What a month, I will not be sad to say goodbye to October. Last night, DH and I got into a car accident. Thankfully, we are both ok but it's been a rough 24 hours. We were double rear-ended and our car is in pretty bad shape, hoping its not totaled but will find out tomorrow. I was having some back pain, so the firemen and EMS workers thought it would be good for me to go to the hospital. What I didn't realize was that this meant they strapped me down on a gurney with a headpiece and took me to the hospital in an ambulance. The car accident was bad enough, but the hospital experience was where the real traumatizing was.....they took me to a hospital in the hood and I saw things a person should never have to see or experience, and this is coming from a girl who lives in New York City, where we are no strangers to "interesting" sights, sounds, smells, etc. Anyway, throughout the course of the night I was asked 3 different times about when my last period was, and when I said August, I got weird looks and was asked to explain so of course I had to tell my story of my miscarriage and D&C repeatedly which was something I obviously did not want to do. But the icing on the cake was what my mom said to me. Most of the time my mom does not say the right things in most situations, which is why its been surprising but its made me happy that she has been saying all the right things after my mc, and has been more supportive than I would have thought. So last night when I tell her about the accident and being in the hospital, she said to me: "well thank God you weren't pregnant, see isn't it a good thing you aren't pregnant anymore!?" OMG I nearly fell over on the stretcher I was laying on. I know what she meant, that this would have been an even worse situation if I was pregnant, but come on, to be "glad" I'm not pregnant because of a car accident!? Um, no. Turns out the people who got hit and hit into us, the woman in the passenger seat is pregnant with twins and started having pains and/or contractions.
Ugh, what a month....hoping and praying that November is better....

you are proof that when it rains it pours!!! You poor girl. UGH!
I am so happy you are ok!
Your parents have to be about the same age as mine - 70\'s? And my mom says the stupidest shit . . . I blame her age. And her love of wine. And her love of sharing with me when she is drinking the wine.
Again - so happy you are safe. So sorry you had to relive your past few weeks.
Come on November - hurry up!
sending love and prayers.

OMG what the hell. As if you didn\'t have enough with the mc. I really can\'t believe how cruel life can be. First the accident, then your mom and wow finding out the accident was caused because of contractions. What are the odds.
I just want to come down to NY to give you a giant hug.
I\'m so glad you both weren\'t hurt but really can November get here sooner.

Oh my heart goes out to you. It really is laughably unfair. after my loss last summer we also got into a car accident. My husband was driving and it was his fault. It made me feel like vindicated that he was distracted in this funny way. Why is it too that family say the most ridiculous things!!!!

Oh I am so sorry. The accident. The traumatizing experience at the hospital. Your mom. I\'m just so sorry. Believe me...all of this is making you an even stronger person than Amazing You already are. I know it seems pointless and like trauma is being added upon trauma. And it becomes surreal. But you WILL emerge resilient. I know you will.
P.S. My mom sounds EXACTLY like yours. \"Means well\" but puts her foot in her mouth and doesn\'t realize it. And even if I explained it she still wouldn\'t \"get it\". So I understand. Thinking of you.

Wow! I\'m so sorry about the car accident. When it rains, it pours. Maybe you should spend today holed up in your house so that you can get to November and a frest start! My mom is also good about putting her foot in her mouth. I hope things turn around for you soon!
