Can’t give it power

I noticed this yesterday or the day before that when I interact with others and it feels like there’s some discord and or I don’t get what I need emotionally, my fear comes out and it’s like my mind starts doing predictive text or like autocorrect fill in the mental gaps in a negative way. I’m trying not to let that win. I’ve noticed it in others as well. There are always more levels to think or understand things.

It happened again this morning while driving to work. Thinking about yesterday while spending time with my folks. I have to deal with the here and now and my work day. I'm telling myself that I can do it!! I won't let these lingering thoughts control my outlook. I'll deal with them later if necessary.

i'm pretty convinced that prohibitions give away more power than blessings. if i ever get around to finding a publisher, i plan to start my book tour by putting on my most matronly costumes and starting a book banning campaign. nothing sells copies like controversy.

ditto for my intrusive, self-sabotaging thoughts, etc. the more i tell myself not to, the more compulsively i do ^it^. on the other hand, accepting them with self-tolerance and love allows me to bring them out into the open where they shrivel up and blow away for the exposure to sunlight and fresh air. should i tell my 6 year old foster daughter she is twisted for believing that not liking unicorns is the mark of the beast? it is certainly no sillier than believing everybody hates me for being old, ugly and opinionated.

i promise to protect you from my foster daughter if you happen to not like unicorns. pink preferred.

Thanks Nikki! Thanks Arfie! I find that giving myself something to meditate on does help me keep on keeping on. So we do differ there. It’s ok. It’s just this works for me. I like unicorns, pink and rainbow unicorn farts. Have a good day you guys!

I also find that I can’t give power to those nagging feelings that people in my life hate me. I think that’s something where that I need to remember all good things that are around and said and then utilize the positive nurturing support that’s given my way. Right now I can see all that good stuff so I’m not feeling the negativity but feeling the possibility!

when i drag those nagging feelings that people in my life hate me out in the open and give myself permission to think it, the spark which burns it into ash is the assumption that i **know** what other people are thinking. my foster daughter's faith that unicorns are real is no sillier than my own faith that i can read minds.

once that assumption burns to ash and blows away, i find myself with far more room and serenity to feel the possibility.

i am frequently awed by how easily most of my negative thoughts evaporate under open, compassionate scrutiny.
i'm not a toxic people. i'm just human.
