Call for help
A couple of weeks ago I started seeing a psychotherapist for my PTSD. Although the time was short-lived( terminated health-plan), I realize that I should be grateful for her help. She helped me see that I can start making changes for my life and that I really have nothing to lose but everything to gain. For this moment in my life, I am doing something that benefits me, which makes me feel guilty. I know I shouldn't but all in the meanwhile, I have never put my life as a priority and I am always looking to help others, neglecting myself and my needs.
Well, today I called at the Columbia University for their Trauma and PTSD Program. Guess what? Their evaluation and treatments are all for FREE. I had the phone in-take not too long ago and I was really nervous and anxious. To know that the other evaluations will be longer and in-depth. I know that this is for real and I am taking charge of my life.
Life throws curveballs and we, sometimes don't know how to deal with them. Unfortunately, PTSD is one of those curveballs and the damage and healing to the damage is a process, whether long or short. God wants us to live a healthy life, but He knows that we are made of dust; He understands exactly what we are dealing with. We become scared of what we don't know. And what we don't know may create fear in us, but the truth of the matter is:
How are we going to handle those fears and how do we overcome it?
