Butterfly in a birdcage.

I am not exactly sure what you could consider my mood right now, perhaps enlightening. Once again, like forth night this week I have yet to go to bed, and I have done nothing but think.
I am a people person, but I am not. When it all comes down to it, I would much rather stay at home in isolation. I mean most people are rather fake and impractical. I don't understand why people always have the mindset that they have to fit into a sort of "norm". What is normal anyway? Who decides what is proper or popular? Most of all who decides what is sane? I think that today's world is so prejudice against anything that could be considered the slightest bit different from what they are. People are afraid of variety, anything foreign to them. This is why, as much I am ashamed to admit it, I have hidden who I really am while around other people. Maybe even from myself due to supressing myself for so long. And I know that I am not the only one, most of society is probably like me, an idividual pretending to fit into the corrupted mold that is considered normal by our culture in fear that they will be alienated if they show their true colors.
But I am so tired of pretending! I just can't stand it any longer, I feel like I am inside of a cramped box with my legs pressed up against my face and my arms intertwined around me. I just can't breath playing this character anymore. I want to be free to be myself, I am a butterfly in a birdcage, maybe this is why not much makes sense to me, butterflies are never meant to be kept captive, and they certainly aren't birds. I believe a butterfly would be awfully sad if it had ever had to live in a cage among birds. Not able to make a sound while the larger, intimidating creatures did nothing but chirp and bicker. So what else would it want to do but get away? This is what I want to do, and it is what I intend on doing. Because this feathery diguise is beginning to be too much of a burden on me. But don't worry about me, I know of a few other butterflies that could keep me company.
