Busy week
I have had my youngest grandson for the week as my daughter went to a 10 day band camp with her older 2. He has been such a joy. I think i will miss him when his dad picks him up tonight for the weekend. I have filled up my week so haven't had much time to think about things. When i start to think i start feeling sorry for my self and i hate that. My life is what it is. i am starting to think about having a purpose in my life again. Not sure what it will be. I have always been a mom, and a wife. that was enough. now i am still a mom but not a wife. I read something on this site about not putting a relationship or late spouse on a pedestal. I found that interesting. Larry and i were such good friends and partners, that i think i need to be wary of that, because neither of us were perfect. Weather and this little man have me outside a lot and that is healthy for me. People talk about losing weight with the grieving process, i got on the scale and have gained 12 pounds in six months. I think i am eating to fill my emotional needs, so one more thing to be concerned about. it is always something. p

So glad you had a wonderful week with your grandson (they are all adorable, as you know). What a joy and blessing! Of course you will miss him! I\'m glad you are starting to think about your purpose beyond definition of wife/mom/grandma . . you (we) cannot be confined to simply those roles. You have a purpose beyond . . and I have no doubt you will find that purpose as you seem to be actively seeking it BTW, nobody is perfected . . we must get over that and accept who we are and all that we have relations with. This life is a journey of growth, not just in grief, but in good times. We are all simply here to perfect ourselves and grow during our respective lifetimes. I am proud of you for being intuitive enough to know this. Hugs, D
P.S. You are not the only one gaining weight here! I won\'t even get on the scales, but I do know that none of my normal clothes are fitting right now. Sigh. I\'ll address that later on down the road. For now, acceptance is key. Do you remember being pregnate with your children and gaining weight? I do. And I gave myself permission to gain the weight, knowing I would lose it later . . and I did!! :) This is one of those times girlfriend.
Oh Patti, having that little one with you had to be wonderful. And of course you will miss him. I have noticed that when I am with my grandchildren though I love being with them a sense of sadness comes over me for all the things they do and say that I can\'t share with my husband. As for feeling sorry for yourself. I think you are just grieving!! How could you not be? And even if you were feeling sorry for yourself, you have the right too, you have been through hell as all of us here have. And if you don\'t feel sorry for yourself, who will? The world keeps turning and people go on with their lives but our roller coaster is still going. As far as gaining weight, I can relate to food as comfort. Don\'t think I\'ve lost an ounce even though I haven\'t been eating smart for ten weeks. hang in there kiddo, I am with you as all here are. Let\'s keep hoping for better days. Hugs, Michele
My grand babies are such a wonder for me now. They make me laugh and keep me busy. My oldest grand us six and understands that Papa is not here and she misses him. She tells me that Papa is in heaven with Jesus and he is happy. Such sweet words from her makes me happy and sad at the same time. Stay busy with your grands, they are wiser than we give them credit for, and have so much love for us.all the hugs and kisses don\'t hurt either.
very kind and smart words from very kind and smart women! thank you all-Patti
