Brother update
My brother and I are both living off the rent form two rental houses each. My brother had been living in one of them now for over ten years and so is basically living rent free and gets the money form the other for his other needs. I only a less than two years ago started living off one house rent while renting an apartment. This made more sense to me as I can rent a house for more than I need pay for rent and so I have more money this way. Now that I have two hosues to live off of I have little worries about finances as long as I have no disasters or major problems arise.
But my brother is now painting the house he rents while it is occupied. It is taking him along time to do and he is not very polite about it. The renter had called me a couple times and told me what is going on. I told her that I really don't have much to say about it I just handle paying the bills for any property improvements out of my father's account but she likes to talk to me about him because he is so irritating.
I had thought my brother was only a irresponsible bully, arrogant impolite. insensitive jerk to his family but since all this started, I have come to realize he is like this to everyone except a few of his closest friend.
If he is not more careful he may drive away his renter and be stuck with an empty house in this economy and have nothing on which to live. Poor brother would have to get a job.
I realize I may sound like a jerk here, I have no excuse. My brother brings out the worse in me.

it sure sounds like your brother is not making it easy on the renter, or any body else except for a few, and one day that may come back to hurt him. Seems like he is unaware of this or just does not care. I don\'t think you are sounding like a jerk, just someone who is tired of things that your brother does. And it is something that you have to deal with every day so of course you are irritated.
