Break

I took 3 days off work this past weekend. I needed the break and it was the next weekend I could take off (originally I was just looking for Saturday & Sunday). So it just so happened that the new flooring was going in that Friday before and the Monday after (today). So I asked for Friday as well, before I knew Monday would be needed, and since I don't normally work on Fridays, I didn't think it would be an issue.

This weekend was great. Thursday night we made sure everything was moved out of the first half of the 1st floor that was getting new flooring. It was a bit hectic after everyone got off work, but we did it without killing each other so I call that good.

Friday morning the two guys came to lay down the first flooring. They didn't finish it, so they came back on Saturday. I, finally, got to hang out with my best friend on Saturday, so when I came home, the floor was done.

Since the floor wasn't done until late, nothing got moved on Saturday. So Sunday morning, everything needed to be moved back into the first half of the 1st floor, and everything moved out of the second half. This was challenging. We went grocery shopping, figuring we'd make sure we had food for breakfast before getting things going. Well it was a bit late when we got home and since the oven wasn't in yet, breakfast got thrown out of the window. Almost literally. My family (myself included) gets hangry if we haven't eaten. Plus any other frustrations, you don't want to be around us. I snacked on something just to give me energy and keep the anger down.

My main job on Sunday was filling the laundry room with all the cleaning supplies and organize it. That was a big task, but I feel great that I can find things in the laundry room again.

After a nap, we set our sights on the living room (really the only part of the second half to get flooring). It was another bit of going through items and "keep, donate, or trash". All in all, we donated 4 bags of clothing and other items (from the whom first floor, not just the living room). I feel really great about that. Had my hoarder mother not been involved, there would be more trash and more donation. But that's a lot of stuff already and the rest is pretty manageable.

Today, the living room got done fairly quickly and we moved things back. The whole first floor (minus a bathroom that we realize has to get reworked) looks amazing! Cleaned up, organized, it's like a different house. And the only time I felt anxious was Sunday morning.
