Books
I am always recommending books I find helpful but I am needing some recommendations now. I read a book a day, so I go through them...of course books dealing with grieving that have really helped you...a good celebrity memoir (my guilty pleasures)...and suspense thrillers as in "The Girl on the Train", which by the way, if you haven't read, get it immediately!!! You won't be able to put it down.
About the book I wrote about a few weeks ago "Wave", I do not recommend it at all. The author lost her 2 sons, husband and parents in the tsunami. Eventually near the end of the book, and after 7 years, she starts coming around...but until then it is just too much heartache, for those of us already living heartache.
So, anyone please give me some titles!!!

I think I read the Girl on the Train, was it about three women in England? I am in a book club now and I am happy to get my head in a book to forget the life I am in. Sometimes it works very well and others I just can't concentrate, so then I crochet. We have read so many, I will get the list but just finished Mrs. Lincoln's Rival. It was a wonderful historic novel at the civil war time. Happy reading!!!!
Gina, After I lost Jason, I read a lot of books, but the one that touched me the most and uplifted my spirits was "A Travel Guide to Heaven" by Anthony Destefano. It is a small, papaerback with a blue cover. You can order it online from Barnes and Noble. It is a Christian book, but anyone that believes in Heaven will enjoy it. It is mainly about what our kids are doing now in Heaven. They are NOT floating around on clouds resting. They all have wonderful jobs up there. It also talks about our dogs and other animals that do, in fact, go to Heaven. I strongly recommend it as I know it will make you feel better to know what all the kids are doing up there. By the way, be patient with your husband. They dont have the same emotions we women do. My husband was an airline pilot when Jason was growing up and I pretty much raised him alone as my husband was gone 17 days a month. I can understand how you feel, but please try to be patient with him. The divorce rate for parents who have lost a child is hugh. Hope you enjoy the book. Love, Katrina
I can offer authors more than titles and you may Google them and see what comes in. Tosha Silver, Lissa Rankin, Brene' Brown, Glennon Doyle Merton just to name a few. These are authors who have not lost children, yet they write from their hearts and each offer something very beautiful. Outrageous Openness is one of my favorites my Tosha Silver as it's a collection of short stories and I had it with me when I traveled to NYC when my dad was first diagnosed with his brain tumor and it saved me. I had tucked it into my bag at the last moment and oh, that was no coincidence!
Happy Reading and thank you too for sharing books you are enjoying. :) On our website www.formomsonly.org are some other favorites of the moms that I'm sure you have checked out?

The one book that helped me, was Echo of the soul, by Echo Bodine. This book helped me a lot. I look at things differently. I do hope this is a good book for you.
