body image, accepting and motivation to exercise
I didn't serve this morning. I've stayed in my room. It's a nice thing
and yet I have all this energy within me to reconcile to this solitary
time which is used to intense chanting and reading and conducting
the services.
I've been thinking about exercising as a way to engage that energy
and I do need to start to do it as a) I am getting older and need to keep
things in shape, and b) I am getting to be a hefty heffer. LOL.
When I focus on my body I don't havr great motivation. I began to ask why
this morning. Here's what I found. Focusing my mind just on my body
I think revealed my place in society. Am I not feeling supported
by the folks around me here in this monastery etc etc to 'work out' - is it a real step out
into individuality in the world? Surely that's something I ought not to just
accept and remain passive about. So I do think that it shows me
again what I have been learning about Blue and life and the thinking in icons.
These major slogans and movements we have in our culture - have to boil down
to the individual and how we really are in the world -EXERCISE is good - but not everyone will be or is built to be
an adonis - but rather a maximized and fit version of their own individual animal (self.)
It turns on a 'lightswitch of excitement' for me. :) i will exercise!
have a good day folks!

I do some exercises 6 mornings a week, and some tai chi as part of it.
It's relaxing and good for this ol' body to keep stretched and useful.
Because of medication and who-knows-what, I don't lose any weight with it or even tone up like they 'advertise', but it's still good to do.
Exercise doesn't have to be a chore. Choose exercises that you Want to do!
I agree with MA...make it something you enjoy. You can start out small and then build on it. It's good for the body and mind.
thanks GT and Susan!
I never liked exercize other than when I was young and I was a runner
I need to do exercize
For a long time I did an exercize class twice a week for an hour because I wouldn't have done it on my own
Thanks Jan!
