Biopsy Results

The biopsy results showed that the mass is malignant. It is located in the center of the kidney and if ablated would more than likely shut down the function of my kidney. In addition, the ablation would have no effect on the nodes on my lungs, 5 of them now. My Oncologist has prescribed Sutent for me. With my insurance it would be $750.00 a month for my co-pay which is completely out of the question for me. My Oncologist has his own Social Work Department and they have been so helpful. They have had me approved by a "co-pay foundation". My grant is for $10,000. I asked what would happen if I survive that amount and need more treatment and was told that there are many foundations out there that would assist and not to worry. The side effects of the drug are widespread and some are harsh. My doctor for whatever reason doesn't expect me to be affected by many. He is going to prescribe a med for nausea. I have to watch my blood pressure very closely as it tends to make it higher. The med will come this week and will start them right away. Am scared to death of any side effects. Hopefully, I can tolerate them as this drug has shown such great promise. Would appreciate it if you would keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I will write again once I am on it for a while and let you know how I am. Love to you all.

Sutent is a wonderful drug, Hon. BP fluctuations, change in taste, and fatigue seem to be the normal side effects of this medication. I will be praying that your body adjusts well to it. Keep the faith.
