Beyond the Darkness
During grief the mind can feel lost in darkness. There seems to be no escape from the dark thoughts and feeling of grieve, There is a sense of being stuck in a dark room with no options to move away from grieving. I feel sandwiched between the dark and heavy clouds. I still feel the heaviness of grief, I was looking out my window and notice a thin layer of bright shining light put off from the sun. The glimmer of the light mesmerized me,I seen some heavy clouds and thought soon they will cover up the shining light, but the light persisted. So that presented me with a challenge that changed my mood.I felt my self smile, the light persisted amidst the clouds, then it disappeared below the horizon..It was gone ,but I know it was still there. the clouds prevailed temporarily, but the sun was still shining. The heavy darkness of grieve can block our view of the light with in. But the light is still there. It is really our decision about weather we see the darkness or the light. When you decide to see the light there is a powerful shift inside us. It is not that the pain or memories our gone ,its more like we get transformed,. Just as the darkened sky become transformed by the silver light. the darkness of grieve the darkness of grieve can to be transformed by our decision to move beyond grieve it is a choice as hard as it may be,its one way we can look at it,whether we can move on or not is up to us,I have not moved on but I am trying.

I totally agree with you - it is up to us to see the light when it is there and welcome it - we have too many dark days to pass up an opportunity to smile at the light. But with our losses, I believe, we will always have dark days but hopefully with time, the light days will outnumber the dark days. But, of course, we will always remember them . . .
I don\'t want to feel so sad and crying all the time. I\'m striving for that ray of sunshine too. I keep working at it, but the pain is still very bad. A truly inspirational journal, Thank you, Terry
I agree, we can make a choice to see (look for) the light when it is there...
not that we won\'t miss our children forever and the hole in our hearts will be there forever..
It is so hard and a continuing uphill battle but it is true ~ we can and need to make that choice every single moment of every single day ~ to strive to see and feel the light and to reach for it to the best of our ability.
I have often thought about what happens when you walk into a room filled with absolute darkness and you strike a match or turn on a tiny flashlight ~ where does the darkness go? It is still there to a large extent but the absolute darkness cannot defeat the tiniest flame of light. Where that tiny bit of light is there is no darkness.
I\'m glad seeing the sun peeking through the clouds brought gladness to your heart and a smile to your lips!
Sending much love and a big thank you for this inspiring journal ~ Debbie

How true, i guess the expression iv seen the light, means just what you have said in your inspirational journal, you help many people giving us all hope, especially those who are grieving its a long rocky road, but god gave us the power of thought, and this is indeed is a very powerful way of thinking, its the right way, susie xx
What a beautiful analogy..yes, we choose...and sometime we choose and are again swallowed by sorrow again...but once we see the light...we are reminded that it is there and that it can return. Just keep trying each day...love and hugs...Karen
