Being your own best friend

I am blessed with a handful of good friends and family.

My illness make want to run to others for help.

I have very supportive friends and family but I must be my own best friend to carry myself through to doing activities that would entertain me and be good for me.

I can do it!

There’s something with me who can dip his toes into doing what I like and what I am good at but then something draws me back into the context of what or how I’m supposed to be like an idealized desire or a idealized notion of humanity. It’s a roadblock I am learning to get around.

One thing that serving at St Nina’s provides is a cross section of both what I like and how I like being in the world and a kind of productive member of society (how I’m supposed..)
And actually how I am too. Not the strongest straw in the bunch.

In some way it ‘ticks a lot of boxes for me’. Per my ability and interest and fortitude.
