being self responsible

I felt I made some strides yesterday with my mental health

I was able to be strong and relaxed in a social gathering with my family

and it was great. I feel so loved and appreciated and saw with open eyes

how much they do for me...

I kind of left the event with a new, happy outlook..

and this morning I went out to pick up

somethings from the market - I was still swimming with joy

after last night's dinner...

I came upon the grocery checker and I felt knocked around by her...

suffice it to say - the feeling and confusion followed me home....

and I puzzled about it....

What I realized in the relationship of things is that I still need

to take care of myself and be self responsible - as well as compassionate

and strong so that I can relate to people. I'm just seeing that we all have to take

care of ourselves for the different people we actually are - with different strengths

and weaknesses and yet in commonality with others as well.

It's eye opening.

your closing paragraph could be a good synopsis of one of the bennies i get from my therapy peer network. working for that self-responsible compassion here helps me be more equipped to handle those ***attempted humor alert*** gnarly clerks who have problems of their own, despite their fat, juicy paychecks.

back to the serious stuff. . .
healing hopes for all. no exceptions.

It's so nice to have a wonderful, loving family. Try to hang onto that happy satisfied feeling you had after spending time with them. When I come across a cashier who seems unfriendly, I try to say something complimentary to them and it usually seems to make their day. I do that with my customers at work. It feels good to make someone else feel good.
