Being accountable to someone

Do you guys ever find yourself wanting to/needing to be accountable to someone in your daily life? I've done all these chores and things on this my day of no duties and it's like I want something want someone to be accountable to. Maybe it's an aspect of what the monastics call 'obediences.' Seems a aspect of that in a new perspective.

I made a self-chart to help me account for my own well-being as I was moving towards a specific goal and it works for me even now. It' not a long list, and it gives me self praise for taking care of me every time I look at it.

Here's to you!

Nope, had enough of that in my youth at home trying to 'achieve, be good enough, get/feel acceptance'...

In the long and short, I'm thinking I'm accountable to myself...and like my dear friend Mary Jean once said to me, she's 87, ""I don't want to disappoint myself"" and I think of her, another expression she had as a bumper sticker "apathy is not an option"...with hope and prayer, I believe one day God Will Bless Me With More Movement.

I hear that, and giving up people-pleasing was important for me too. What feels different here is that this isn’t about seeking acceptance so much as wanting one’s actions to belong somewhere. For me, accountability isn’t about approval, it’s about alignment. I try to answer first to my own conscience, that quiet inner measure that lets the day feel complete. Sometimes it’s nice when someone else sees it, but it isn’t required.
