Behind or Ahead?

Lately I've not been able to stop thinking about life, and how I feel so drastically behind everyone else around me. I feel like a failure in so many ways, and I try and see the positives but at the moment they are few and far between. I have a university degree, work experience, and I went on a month long travelling trip a few years ago, so why do I constantly feel like I'm not good enough. I currently work in retail, live at home and I'm also single. I'm 23 years old, and I'm assuming there are so many other 23 year olds in my position too but wow today I feel it. I'm so proud of my friends and close family in everything they have achieved but I can't help questioning how I seem to be the one so far behind. What did I do so wrong? Does anyone else feel this overwhelming sense of pressure and self-doubt? I feel like I was so much happier when I was 18, now I'm just questioning every life choice I've made that has led me to this point. I spend a lot of time reminiscing on 'the good old days' when I was younger, and happier. I know I need to start looking to the future but it's so difficult when I'm so anxious and down about life. My own choices led me here and I accept that, but I just need to get out of this rut. Any advice on how to cope with whatever this situation is would be hugely appreciated...or if anyone else feels the same way?

Hmm. You are certainly among many young adults who have wondered why they are where they are in the moment. Living with your parents allowed you to experience a month long traveling trip, university degree, and be able to do other activities comfortably.

There is nothing wrong with living with parents. Many families are multi-generation households.

The feelings are normal and you're writing them out! Good for you!

To change the direction of your wheels of thoughts to push out of the rut, add a few words, images, and goals to give you different ways of looking at what you are wanting, doing, and being.

Best wishes as you find your better balance.
