Been gone for a bit
I have been lazy these past couple of days and not doing my journal. I've been in pain with the withdrawals and getting migraines too. I have one now- it's in the back of my head. I took some Excedrin but I can't take any more since I'm going to go to bed soon. Yesterday I was kinda bad.... I felt like throwing up, so I did instead of fighting it. It was because my stomach was overfull, not from eating something bad. It's over, though, and I'm going to try my best to not let it happen again.
I got some really bad news today. I got summoned to court for a pre trial of a lawsuit against me. It's one of my old credit cards that I couldn't pay. I'm going to get a lawyer and fight it. I have an appointment with a lawyer on Monday. My court date is the 23rd. I hope it goes well. I'm just worried about it. I know it's probably going to be nothing, but I'm still worried. Hopefully we can afford the lawyer. I heard that if they win the case then they get part of your settlement so you don't have to pay them. I'm not sure how it works. I'm just going to talk it out with my therapist tomorrow.

very odd to go to court for not paying a credit card. let me know what happens. if that is true. a LOT of people are going to need to file bankruptcies. wth? which credit card company is doing this?

I dont blame you for feeling anxious and nervous about going to court. Is it a small claims type lawsuit? Maybe they will have like a mediator at the pretrial so you could say you are living on fixed income and can only afford a few dollars per month... maybe the judge would tell them they had to except a very small payment like example $5 or something? Thats a great idea to go talk with an attorney.... many where i live will just talk to you for free. Some attorneys do case for what they call ... pro bono (sp?) i think thats where they agree to volenteer thier time for people that have limited income... or do you have a place called legal aid? its legal services for low income families maybe they could help too. Just some ideas.
I hope those side effects end soon, I am sorry you are in pain. as for going to court, I would be anxious too, but g2g has some very good ideas, many of which I was going to mention. I have gotten letters threantening collections but never court. this is very odd. hugs and feel better
Nobody likes going to court...I hope all gets resolved before hand.
I will let you guys know more on Monday when I meet with my lawyer. But they say not to call the company and agree to pay small amounts when you can get it all written off if they don\'t have the right paperwork. It\'s an old card from Citi, but Unifund is the debt collector suing me. They have a bad track record in falsifying documents and such, so I do want to have a lawyer on my side.
