Be somebody to someone
I can't stress this enough but having my cat "Blue" has been one of the best things I have done for my life, myself and health. Having him to take care of has really lifted me out of a darkness. I engage in his care as much as I can and he engages me in companionship. As I am lying here tonight, trying to sleep,I'm thinking about friends and family and how grateful I am to have this little chubby guy to be there for him. He's retaught me how to have relationships.

I bet we could have funny conversations about our cats lol then was picturing our cats having funny conversations about us (the crazy primates that feed & take care of them lol :)

i coexist well with wild cats and have a high respect for their hunter instincts, but never cared much for house cats. the litter box alone is ample reason to be certain don't want a housecat of my own. i find the aroma thoroughly offensive and i have yet find a housekeeper finicky enough to eradicate the odor altogether. my housekeeping is nowhere near that finicky.
this past winter my farm was overrun and i launched a mission to establish a colony of barn cats. alas, baby housecats are all i have been able to find and, however great the instinct, hunting is as much skill as instinct. the only hunting lesson they got from their mama is to stand by the kitchen door and yeowl like an entitled ex-spouse until somebody feeds you. i haven't been feeding them and am beginning to feel more than a bit guilty about their malnourished condition. i've banned them from the kitchen door, but they are relentless.
any tips on returning cats to the wild?
i've taken to feeding them in the barn in hopes that at least they might give up patrolling the back door. there are more rodents in the barn than at the back door. maybe if i can get their strength back up, they'll get around to noticing.
