Batgirl

Last night I was meeting Buck at their apt. I got there early, so I let myself in. I wanted to go to the back room (where Leslie had spent her last days and passed away) to see if I could find the stuffed dog that she had with her those last days. (It looked a lot like Sawyer). The door was closed, which it hadn't been before. Opened the door and a bat was flying around the room!

I quickly shut the door, then realized I needed to try and get the bat out. I went in, removed the screen from one of the windows and shut the door again. 

When Buck came home I told her about the bat and we went to check on it. By this time it was hanging from the ceiling. Buck got up on a chair with a small plastic storage container, but it over the bat and managed to nudge it into the bin and get the top on it. We then took it outside to let it go.

Watching it fly off, Buck and I agreed, that was Leslie speaking to us. Leslie loved bats, loved Batman (she had a Batman wallet and at least 1 Batman tee shirt). She loved sitting on the balcony at twilight watching the bats flit around. Toward the end of her life, before she went semi-conscious, one of her few remaining pleasures was being taken out in her wheelchair to watch the bats.

Was Leslie just saying hi, or was she telling us, as we told her in her last days, that it was OK to let go.
