Baptism of Suffering

I have been reading in the Bible about the different kind of baptism - water, spirit - and of course there is a baptism of suffering.
Here we all join in this accord - undergoing a baptism of suffering.  We are not alone and that is a great comfort because all of us here on this website are God's children and we know that He has not deserted us no matter how we may feel emotionally at times in the quiet of the night, so dark.
I guess it would not be amiss to liken it to persecution - persecution of the soul and the spirits of our mother-hearts and grandmother-hearts from the children who have used, abused and dropped us for reasons only they can understand.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the ... The prophets who lived before you were persecuted in these ways.

Yes we are all children of god, all eternal spirit souls, living in these temporary material bodies. In this world we are all subject to both happiness and distress. We all have our own individual journeys to play out. Ultimately this life is meant for self realization...to rediscover our true identity and our loving relationship with God.
