Bad news Beta

So I finally got the call this afternoon to tell me that my beta had dropped to 2. So this cycle is officially a failed cycle. I thought that after everything I have been through over the last few weeks that this news wouldn't affect me as much as it has. I was wrong. I am fairly devastated. I feel like maybe I didn't give the peanut a chance because I was so stressed out about my own life. Geez I know that sounds so stupid. Anyway, I guess what my husband and I are going through right now is an emotional hangover. We were riding a huge wave of high emotion with the cancer diagnosis and the surgery and finally the clear results that it has all taken a toll on me. I feel depressed. I work in healthcare and I know that it is a common phenomenon for people who survive heart attacks to develop depression afterwards as a result of facing their own mortality. That is exactly what has happened here. Given that if the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes, I would have faced a 35% five year survival rate...it made me question my life pretty freaking hard. Now, with the news that we have had a failed cycle I just want to crawl up into a hole and hibernate for a while until I feel normal again.
I feel like, because we have a baby from IVF that I don't deserve to feel sad about this failure..and I am truly sorry to all of you on here. I know that you have all experienced failed cycles and other horrible experiences. Nothing I have been through compares. I am just in a bit of a black hole right now.
But I will get out of it. New cycle will begin in a few weeks. hopefully, by the time my new cycle starts, a few others will have some great news to share.

I would have been surprised if your failed cycle didn\'t affect you at all. Even with all of the relief from being cancer free it is still very upsetting to fail a cycle. Don\'t downgrade your pain. Just because you already have a child doesn\'t mean you don\'t dream of making a sibling for that child. You have every right to feel your emotions. Every day will get better and soon you can focus 100% on your next cycle. Big hugs.
