back home now after a 'nun run'

i drove to dulles airport about an hour and a half away to pick up

a sister who flew in (not a flying nun?!) from San Diego.

She was super serious and as we talked or I attempted conversation

I thought 'ok she's vulnerable' and 'she's skeptical' that's her pain.

It was very hard to be fancy free in chatting but no big whoop - we got

home and all's well. She is a very very talented scientist who is on the board

of a University in San Diego - she's trying to establish liaison and cooperation between to major

universities - as well she's a former scientist and director of her

own lab at MIT in genetics. That being said - casual conversationalist she's not but that's

what makes her a great scientist as well as very able to negotiate the hierarchies

of administration and power. She was having none of my simple chit chat.

She was grateful that I got her and thanked me many times - 

ah well - it takes all kinds...and I am a kind too. 

I just found myself questioning 'what makes me 'me'?'

Frankly it's all good there too. I do like it here

and I am looking forward to the challenge of working at the new market

while living here - that will be something to manage for sure!
