Back from the ... hey, Advil!
Yep, that title accurately demonstrates my current available attention span. lol Seriously though, I've been out of it for quite some time. I left on Jun 29 to go to London, UK for class. It was an incredible trip! I was afraid it was going to kill me with the fibro and the cfs, but I did much better than expected. The amount of walking was insane (5-8 miles per day) and my legs were in constant pain, but thankfully my high pain threshold did me a favor this time. I honestly think I did better there than I frequently do at home. A lot of that has to be b/c my kids and husband weren't there. No daily downers as soon as family walks in the door. No responsibility for another person (for the most part anyway). Freedom to sleep whenever I was in my room. And believe me, I DID SLEEP. A lot. I would love to go back there, if only for the peace and quiet. lol
I've been back at work since the 13th and have done reasonably well. Only had to skip work like three times. But this week is HARD. My kids are in summer camp at my office (my company runs its own summer camp) and that means I have them with me all the way and all the way home (23 minutes of kids yapping and getting rambunctious!). I get no "me" time to be alone in the house. And I'm working later hours (8-4 instead of 7-3). Small changes, but enough to really encroach on my sense of wellness. And, I can't skip driving to work b/c it's at my office, not near the house. Now I remember why I like hubby taking them to camp. Ugh. It doesn't help that last night I woke at 2am and couldn't sleep again until 4:30. So I'm hurting and exhausted. DH is getting to make dinner pretty much all week.
But on the up side, I really did have a blast in London. I am still catching up on the blogs I had wanted to write about each day's adventure. You can see the ones I've finished at http://http://spoonsnstitches.blogspot.com/ .

I\'m so glad you got to take the London trip. You know, I have the same experience when I go away for conferences. Even if I am working the conference and am on my feet quite a bit and get very little rest, I still find it relaxing to not hear, \"Hey, Mom!\" every 5 seconds. Summers are the hardest because there is no quiet time. Last Sunday, my hubby took the kids to a concert and I stayed home. I decided to go on silent retreat. So, I refused to answer the phone or have any noise around me. I read my journals and prayed. It was amazing how refreshing it was. I know how hard it is to get that time, but it is so important. You can literally run yourself into the ground without a moment of peace to reconnect. Many blessings on you, dear.
So true, sweetie. I feel bad when my youngest calls my name for the fifth time this minute and I\'m aggravated by it. I need to just walk outside or something. Silence is golden. And life-preserving.
Silence is golden.
Duct tape is Silver.
Sorry, it was RIGHT THERE. ;-)
I\'m glad London went so well for you. Sorry you\'re getting no peace now. Wishing you get what you need Today, and on.
lol! Thanks, Jack! I\'ve realized that I am just going to have to TAKE the silence I want. Time for a nice awning in the back yard I think.
