this is a cut and paste from a post on a facebook wls support group site I go to... It might be a bit tough of a read cuz of the cut and paste. but it might prove to be invaluable information! I am going to buy some B-1 TODAY as it is not on my list of vitamins...
PLEASE READ: My 22 yr old daughter had gastric sleeve surgery August 15th, 2013....she has not done well AT ALL, and has had to have IV fluids, etc. She lost 52 lbs so far, which is wayyy too much for this time frame! Also has not been able to keep anything down, or "in" I should say since the surgery, including her vitamins. We were about to have to have a feeding tube inserted, when by chance, she met a lady that told her that her niece had been having the same problems, and that it is very rare for it to get to this severity....long story short...the lady advised that her niece , who has since gone blind, and has kidney failure, was referred to a doctor that recommended B-1, just the regular old Walgreens B-1 vitamin off the shelf...my daughter contacted this dr, and was told that within 2-3 hours of taking B-1 she would see an AMAZING difference...if in fact this was her deficiency....well...3 hours later...she was a NEW PERSON...now she can eat, drink, no more nausea...IT IS A MIRACLE!
