Art Projects
I don't remember if I mentioned this but I was invited to be in a charity art show in my home town at the end of September. I will get to keep most of my money, just have to donate one piece for auction. That money goes to help my friend with breast cancer and restoration efforts on one of our local landmarks.
My booth is wood and textile crafts. Yesterday my fiance was at work and I got sooooo much done. I feel better getting a bunch of projects knocked out over the weekend. I wish I could spend every day off just doing crafts instead of housework and running errands. In the evening I go to bed too early because he seems upset if I don't spend time with him. He is getting better tho, I talked to him about being more supportive. He has been doing some carpentry projects outside, which is good for him. I do my stuff at the kitchen table mostly.
Anyway, the art show is something to look forward to and make us some money maybe. It's also a great way to use up the old barn wood from the barn that fell down, old posts from the old porch, old pallets. And I've had yarn and knitted stuff squirreled away for years that I need to get rid of. I hit up a sale at JoAnn Fabric and scored a butt load of yarn to keep me busy this winter. I usually make hats and scarves but I think I may make some pillow cases and throws for the house. Or some plant holders since we are going to bring in plants this winter and hang them from ceiling where cats won't get them.
And of course I still go to gym at least 3 days a week or I don't feel good. It helps my pain issues and weight. I think if I put those things first and quit slaving at home with the housework, I will be happier. It's just I am kindof a neat freak....so I can't stand for chores to be undone and house dirty...so it's hard not to prioritize cleaning.

Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders! I to like to keep up with housework and chores don't like a dirty house. I to have pain issues but I push through them to get things done gotta do what has to be done right. I have to get myself set up with my gym schedule at 24 hr fitness I am paying for it and haven't quite got myself into a schedule yet but need to so I can feel better. I am an artist and crafter also. I haven't been doing my art and crafts lately But I get into it from time to time. I am getting ready to start some of my writing ministry projects slash craft projects preparing for my church for the holidays. And my pastor wants me to make some special outreach ministry cards for him to give out to people. So I am getting ready to get some projects to do to keep me busy soon. Keep up the good work sounds like you are on the right track!I wish you the best with your art charity event!
Do you do tole painting? Things like that always sell at craft fairs and garner alot of money at auctions.. Theres alot of things you can do with that. The sky's the limit.
Tole painting? Never heard of it. I will have to look it up. I cut blocks out of 4x4s and make little cute things out of them. Last year I made some penguins to set on our fireplace. They have little hats and scarves. I also make wooden signs out of barnwood. I stain some, whitewash some. I hand letter sayings on them and add little decorative accents. Rustic stuff like that is popular right now.

The Amish do alot of it on chairs tables and pretty much anything you can use in a house. In their eyes, it can't just be pretty, it has to have a function.
I hope you post some photos of your finished crafts before the fair.
Wish I could see some of your crafts, sounds like making them is so much fun, and relaxing!! I think being left alone to do something you really enjoy is the best thing ever. I'm like you, constantly cleaning. We HAVE to relax. I was on a sailboat recently and it was the most relaxing 3 hours I ever spent. I'll never forget it!
yes! Like maria said! Maybe we would like to buy one! Etsy is a great place to sell those kind of things. I have friends who do quite well selling on that site. If you have a passion for something like that, you should dive right into it! You never know where it will take you!
I may post a pic or two if I figure out how. I have heard of Etsy, just never understood how it worked. I'm not great with computers or technology. I barely understand this smart phone I got for Christmas. And man do I hate touch screens!

One thing I miss about my ex is he knew how to do all that stuff. He was always selling stuff on eBay and Facebook. I don't even have social media. I just can't understand why people would want their friends to see who their other friends are. Or worse, I don't want my family knowing my friends!
I checked out a book from the library about how to make money online doing art and how to use social media. I didn't even make it thru the first chapter. It was so boring and over my head. Didn't help the instructions were for a computer, which I don't have, nor do I have a camera or know how to take good pics. I mean my phone has a camera but still. I'm lost.
Maybe someday if real world art show doesn't sell anything, I will make one of these Etsy things.

When you make a journal entry, an option in your text editor header is shown by a mountain-looking icon. That allows you to post graphics. Hope you do post some pictures, Ghost. At the very least, I'm looking forward to the updates on booth prep and exhibition day. That booth prep can make a HUGE diff in attracting customers.
