call me crazy but what the hey......
i'm making a cherry peach pie w/streusel pecan crumble. Will it taste great or be a really bad idea? Only time will tell. Just slid it into the oven for a 40-45 minute bake. Yes, Mom, I put foil around the pie crust edge to keep it from burning....
burning up hot.......comforter in the dryer. annie watching the world go by.....peter in the wolf now playing throughout the house. this snug little house. getting hot out there.......whooweee!
i did not feel at all like tending to chores, but i still try. i hate that inner urging to get up off my dead backside and do stuff......is this all from my dad's upbringing or partly from being coached in basketball. those terrible sprints that killed every muscle in your legs?
the trays of seeds did not produce diddly squat. i took two low rectangular containers, poured the remaining seed sprouting soil mix in and let the final few packets of seed go crazy. that was two days ago.........voila! little tiny sprouts of fresh baby green shooting up. i may have to call the company that owns those doofy trays and say LIARS!
......reminds me of childhood. i never had fancy, but i had a dad who brought fun into our young lives. the fresh sand in spring being poured into the giant john deere tractor tire under an apple tree........a tree house made from scrap lumber that made for hours of dreaming, hiding, playing......making up characters and stories.....imaginative play with siblings. a kitchen made of lumber scraps in an evergreen tree. there were no buttons or dials, but i cooked many a meal on that flat top lumber lying neatly across a low lying limb, the perfect height for a little girl playing prairie wagon cook out and so many other ideas that made life better.
you don't need fancy to have fun........if you've ever draped blankets across the top of chairs or an old table you know, you can make Aladdin's den or a hideout when playing cowboy's n indians, cops n robbers.......being a princess trapped in a tower.......
did you ever play with a big box? big boxes from an appliance store or a move can provide greatness all day long. turn into a bus, a plane, a boat, a train........turn a child into a hero.......with super powers to save the universe before a peanut butter jelly lunch on white bread cut on the diagonal...with chiddoe chips (potato chips).....under the shade of the big oak tree back home.
makes me wish for a croquet set.........my family to play with, croquet or badminton. i never got the croquet set, but i'm ready for badminton if there are any takers. not that i can run much or far......but to swing that lightweight racket and send that thingy.....what is it called? not a ball.....but a ? hmmmm.......it's rubbery round on one end with air holes around the whole thing.....to give it loft and speed when you hit it.
i tidied the bedcovers, trash is ready for the trash guys.......vacuumed the bedroom.....annie is shedding.......it's a wonder she isn't bald annie.......but no matter how much fluffy hair flies off she is still unaffected by cat lady pattern baldness. is that even a thing?
the dishes are done.......air drying the stuff that was drippy from the top rack on a pretty red and white towel......the smallest things can be upgraded with music. i wish i'd remember to turn on music every time (mostly every time) once i enter the kitchen to do chores. it makes everything better.
tomorrow is lunch wish sara day. not sure where we'll go just yet, she suggested everything from the big food court at the mall of georgia to mimi's cafe. she even tossed in mickey d's, but i'm not a big mickey d fan so much anymore. once in a blue moon i still like me some mcdonalds, the golden arches. when i was in high school a hamburger was a 29 cents. no, i am not kidding. coffee was a dime a cup at a diner. no wonder i have white hair........i am old, huh!! surprise surprise.....
my mom rode her horse to school for her first job......she taught school in a one room schoolhouse in iowa till she and my daddy wed. had lots of babies and sadly a nervous breakdown that she never recovered from. there is vinegar and sugar and spice in life....it's not all somersaults and smooth landings......as we all know.
be ok today. with whatever your limits or abilities lead you to.....if you need to rest......rest. nap, sleep..cruise quietly. if you need to do stuff in care of your life add a little music..........pray that i can water all the plants later, but first a break in the cool and quiet of the bed beneath a slow moving ceiling fan.........ahhhhhhhhh.

I think the pie sounds fit to eat. I'll be over in a minute :). I really enjoyed the stories about your childhood. I was creative in using what I had as a child as well. Even my girls are creative. They used to use pencils as "characters" in their little dramas. They had Barbies, but they preferred the pencils :). Love you.
Ruthie, talk about being old. The first time I ever ate at Mickey D's a burger was all of 15 cents. I remember going on a field trip from school (country boy myself) when I was in the 6th grade & I bought 6 burgers for 90 cents. Didn't take a growing boy long to eat them. LOL
Hope you feel some better soon. I'm really dragging these days myself. Enjoy the lunch with Sara tomorrow. Sure wish I could have lunch with my daughter. Heck, I would even settle for a phone call from her.
