appreciating how things 'actually are'
A lot of journals today...
But I'll say that sometimes when I am on my own and so challenged to keep
myself from feeling upset or yearning for something that is maybe like
an object of how 'it's supposed to be' or maybe just a vision of how I would like things...
it's like mentally I reach for 'the other' in my life as a sounding board...
and the only sounding board I have are the images of how things are supposed to be (in so many words.)
but I kind of caught myself tonight and said to myself to look at what I actually have...
and that I have some pretty nice things in my life (gratitude.) I have a lovely family who I see a lot.
I have a wonderful roommate named Blue...lovely friends... I have work and so on...
I guess the answer is, it's not always easy to appreciate just what you've got
especially when it's like I am living in solitary confinement - and the only the that validates me
on my own are the images of cliche or what the tv sells...
I am just reminded tonight to look at how things actually are and appreciate them.
And so I am - feelings as a result can bring me down but that's my key to
shift gears and 'do.'

and also what I'm realizing that I haven't been going for things I want because
things aren't the way they're supposed to be in my life yet in order for me to
have those things. Like Arfie said...Living is now! eh? :)
I don't remember saying that, but it's possible and I'll take it, regardless. It fits my heavily psychotheraputed life philosophy.
The longer I practice the art of appreciation in place of the desperation of control, the more I appreciate that I don't have access to all the mitigating data of the world, not even inside my own skin. Life is and always will be an evolving mystery. I don't **get** to know. I can only enjoy the privilege of enjoying the show.
Pass the popcorn. . .
thanks arfie!
Gratitude is my best tool Marky.... I'm so glad that it helps you as well.... It means a great deal when we go off feeling life is a disappointment ya know..... That is so damaging... Bravo!!... xo
thanks Janet!
I thought about accepting things as they are. Well, the thought evolved to what I was also experiencing last night. It is important to get your work done and be responsible but you also don’t have to wait until you’re perfect to enjoy the day and your life. My heart is full and I’m taking care of the day and myself too. Got myself a coffee and just so glad.
Stop and smell the roses or get that wonderful cup of joe.
