Apollo 11--the Eagle has landed...

Did anyone watch the CNN special last night on Apollo 11, when it landed on the moon---it was 2 & 3/4 hours of unseen footage of the mission and Armstrong's "One small step for Man, One giant leap for Mankind".  It will be 50 years ago real soon.  I can't belive they did that way back then in 1969.  It was so long ago, and they didn't have the technology that is out there now.  Amazing they pulled it off.

I remember being 8 years old on a hot summer day, July 20, 1969, and me and my family lived in a tenement apartment in a building in Manhattan, and we were just absolutely glued to an old fashioned TV when when we saw Armstrong, in black and white, step on the Moon.  What an experience, once in a lifetime experience, that was.

The whole word was watching and mezmerized.  I remember feeling that the whole world was united for once.

Would like to read other people's experience when this happened, where you were, etc.  Please share your story, I'd love to read it, it brings back such memories.
