Apocalypse?

ok I’m not religious and that’s a joke. But the droughts, bushfires, floods and loss of threatened species was already rattling me a bit. Now Coronavirus and all the implications and flow on effects. I feel like I’m trapped in a Hollywood movie. The wind howling around this place and blowing everything away adds to the ambience.

Deep breaths and go with the flow. I’m not afraid of dying but suffocating to death with a respiratory disease would be close to the top of my list of things to avoid. I already self isolate but I’m worried about food and medicine. If I was religious I would be praying now I think.

The U.S. anti-smoking faction has been quite colorful in helping this smokey jane make her peace with that image of of suffocating from respiratory distress. A movie cowboy has escaped a forgotten old Western movie to help me through the dissociation of those relentless lectures. He is leaning against an outpost wall watching a stranger bleed to death from a gut wound while the movie hero pleads for help in attempting to save the stranger's life or at least offer the dying man comfort. The leaning cowboy spits a wad of chewing tobacco goo and declares, "There ain't no good way to die." I find that cowboy slipping into my mind during the current Corona debate, as well.

Enough about my death, my caped crusader. Let's talk about *your* death for a while. . . What sexy, pain free death do your perfectly protected lungs have in store for you?

Ya doesn't have to be religious to notice that Bruce Springsteen was quite accurate when he sang, "Everything dies, Baby, that's a fact." I doesn't doubt the human species and even Mother Earth will die one day. Living life in fear of death ain't no life at all.

Try not to think about death. Think about living. Think about happy things and then happy things will come to you. It's called the Law of attraction.

We are just going through a phase, that's all. It will get better in time... I am positive! :)

God Bless

The end of times is not known he comes like a thief in the night.

But yes like bobber said think of the positives attracts them to us! What your mind magnifies is all you will see!

I'm not being glib when I say I've been through the apocalypse once before. That's what landed me in DS PTSD now, my trauma from what happened then. I wrote a book about it that got published years ago, "Utopia Undone: The Fall of Democracy in Uruguay." It happened in 1973 and the following 12 years were so bad that there's a Netflix movie about it called A Twelve Year Night. I knew one of the people in that movie; he helped me write my book.

After the fall in 1973, Uruguay's entire currency was scrapped and restarted twice. Imagine if the US dollar became worthless and all US dollar bills had to be gathered and burned while banks were closed for a week, then new and different money printed and put in circulation. We did that twice.

We didn't have meat in supermarkets for a year. Wheat ran out, so no bread. Gasoline shortages. Electricity blacking out. You name it, it happened.

So I kind of feel like a post-apocalyptic guy, that's the upside of my Post Traumatic Stress from that time back then. I don't like this, but I know I can survive it.

I'd say that's true, too, of folks here on DS PTSD. Along with our Disorder came survival skills, too. This crisis may be the one time those of us with PTSD could be the ones with a slight advantage over others.

SHAKY, RELIGION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS BE ASSURED. I STUDY IT AND KNOW ITS NOT SO EASY. as to a lock down, usually for 14 days, i would prepare for a month's supplies. always good to have staples around like rice, pasta beans....maybe a jug of wine for the lonely nights! hehe...when you have PTSD: stop this what could be and deal with what is! deal with today only but take certain precautions of course. this is not a government revolution but a danging upper respiratory virus, sadly some people don't know their asses from their pie hole so stock up on toilet paper for an imminent diarrhea plague....cholera, DYSENTERY????!!!!!. some think there is a famine coming....well now that could make sense, overeating etc and so diarrhea and thus TP! but back to the upper respiratory i would rather get a n extra package of kleenex, nasal spray, some meds for congestion, inhaler if applies, and the old piece of soap is as good as all this new crap....now off my soap box, cheers!!!!

Shaky, our world has gone through many traumatic times. Some through nature; some man made. We survive. The survival rate for those who get corona virus is in the upper 90%. Follow the guidelines, and reduce your risk. Just go about your life. Many precautions are being put in place to help protect us. As someone in their 70's with heart and lung problems, I am at high risk if I contract it. But I haven't, as millions won't. Calming and comforting hugs.
