another young woman has gone home

Amy Winehouse, the singer, passed away yesterday at 27. Too young, such a shame and already the cruel jokes. I read on FB "well I guess somebody should have gone to rehab", in a reference to one of her songs. Well, no matter what she passed from people should have respect. Such a young and talented woman and no one wants to grow up & be an addict. Addiction is not a lifestyle choice & people should have more compassion. This young woman lost her life and her mother & family are grieving. Sigh...I just had to get that off my chest.
Miss Winehouse - may you rest in peace in God's loving arms....

I agree with you, people should respect the deceased. I also agree that being prone to addiction is not a choice, it comes from things that were done to us, possibly it could be genetic too.

Addicts need help and compassion, not ridicule or punishment. How to help them can be a very tough question in some cases, I\'m sure Amy\'s parents tried really, really hard to do that...and a lot of other people tried too.

It\'s the way life is, sometimes things just end badly. She was a person who did great things in music, a pioneer that others followed. Many artistic people die young. Being special can take a toll on a person.

Linda, thank you for putting it so clearly and compassionately. We do have a soft spot for young people in distress... and their parents feeling so much pain.
Peace to their hearts --

It is a shame how people react to drug (and/or drug related) deaths. After my son died of a drug overdose, my own mother asked me \"Are you going to tell the truth of how he died?\". All while she swallows her opiate based RX drugs, don\'t let me get started! RIP Amy. Hugs and peace.

I agree - it is not funny. So sad to lose a gifted musician. It is a sad fact that some of the most talented artists are also troubled, so even more prone to use drugs and alcohol.

Well said ! Ive read the negative comments...unbelievable - disturbing. I posted a picture on Facebook as a reminder, of Amy hugging her mother after winning a Grammy...mother daughter love, very touching. I loved Amys bluesy, jazzy cool style and voice. Be forever at peace Amy Winehouse. Ess

Being old and out of the \"loop,\" I didn\'t even know this young, talented singer. The news said she was bipolar. Mental conditions and addictions are serious and should not be a joke.
With love,

I had never heard of her until posts started showing up here....so sad, such a tragic loss for her family and friends. And yes, I agree, some people are so cruel and so ignorant. I think they must live small pitiful little lives to express such vile, hurtful things. Shortly after Kala\'s accident some stranger wrote a post that said Kala was obviously driving a new car mommy and daddy gave her for christmas and was showing off to her friends and killed herself and another boy. I can\'t put into words the damage this did to me when I read it. This vile creature didn\'t know my child, and yet felt it was within her right to reach to hate to speak about my child. Shame on her and shame on anyone who speaks ill of anyone else without personal, truthful, knowledge....and then, wouldn\'t it just be best to keep one\'s mouth shut??

I agree, people should not be cracking jokes. She seriously was in need of help a long time ago and everyone knew it. I was not surprised at all when I heard of her passing. It was bound to happen to her sooner or later since she refused to get help. I wish for her families sake that people would be respectful though. It\'s a sickness that she had, and it\'s sad that nobody could help...

This was a very tormented young woman, that\'s obvious from her lifestyle. Perhaps she suffered from an undiagnosed/untreated psychiatric disorder. I hope she found peace, such a suffering soul should go to God\'s arms, I doubt the \"choices\" she made were really \"choices\", I think they were coping mechanisms.

We Mon\'s get it don\'t we.. another child lost, no matter why, no matter how, just another precious life snuffed out.
My nephew also has addiction issues, and my sister feels, as Amy Winehouse\'s mother has stated, that she will have to buy her son one day.. I don\'t know what to say to her when she says that, just hug her tight and hope it won\'t happen.
