Another Week

I will be heading back to Mobile for a week tomorrow. I actually accepted a transport assignment that works out perfectly. I will pick up Tommy in a small town on my way, and drop him off with the next volunteer in Pensacola. Perfect timing. He is going from Miami to Colorado to his new (hopefully forever) family. He was a part of a confiscation when he was a puppy and was immediately adopted. Then he was recently found as a stray...sigh...so sad. But he is happy and forgiving and hopefully his best days are ahead of him.

I hate leaving my husband and dogs. Then once I have been there a week I will hate leaving my sister and Jack. He is so adorable...when I go he wants to know how many days I am staying. He has a rule, the day I arrive and the day I leave don't count, only WHOLE days count, and he keeps track. Then, without fail, on my last WHOLE day he tries to convince me to stay JUST ONE MORE whole day. He's the only person in the world I will fake happiness for.

My mother is disappointed that we can't commit to a big Christmas this year. She feels it might be her last. But we don't know what tomorrow holds, it's absolutely impossible to make a commitment right now about much of anything. Becky was moved out of the hospital into an in-patient rehab facility to work on her new hip. She hates it, but really doesn't have a choice. It's the next thing she has to conquer. I have an aunt in the hospital right now, deep in congestive heart failure, and am expecting a call at any time that she has passed. When it rains it pours.

Yesterday a mom in my other group had contacted the admin to say her house had burned during the night, and she and her husband got out in their pajamas and phones, nothing else. This was a mom I had spent a lot of time and emotional energy on, I thought we were friends. We all jumped into action, planning fund raisers, sending donations, gathering up whatever we could spare in household goods. Then we got a notice from admin that it was fraud. She had been suspicious and called the fire department that would serve the area, and it didn't happen. The mom blocked all of us. Very sad about it, not about the money, but the time and love and energy I gave her. I feel she may have suffered some kind of mental breakdown or was incredibly desperate to do that, but there's no way to know now.

It has finally gotten cold here...I can pull out my boots. Speaking of which, I have some packing to do. I am so damn high maintenance. I am just going to buy extras of everything I need to leave there, since I will be going every other week. I hope you guys are having a better Christmas season, but it seems to be affecting all of us, or a lot of us, in a sad way. Will write more soon.

Gina, I love how you help animals by doing transport. May Tommy have a good adjustment in his new home.

So sad that someone would engage in fraudulent behavior. Not nice to play on moms whose hearts are tender...

Thinking of you and your family; Becky, your aunt, your sister, dear little Jack. You are a good living auntie, sister and friend. The love and support you are providing is invaluable.

May your Christmas be as gentle as possible. Love to you and dearest Cassi, Linda

Travel safely and keep us posted as you are able. What a service you are doing for that fur baby and I know that your sister and extended family will welcome your helping hands and most of all heart.

Take care of yourself and yes, this is a tender time of year for each of us isn't it? Grateful we can come here and share. The load doesn't change, yet shifts somehow and feels lighter when brought for others to bear witness to.

LOL! A double kiss and a hug to carry with you, I guess. I swear there are times that I feel that our kids are messing with us and want to shake things up a bit. lol Thank goodness we can still find our sense of humor at times in the midst, huh?! :)

LOVE IN ACTION....that's what you are and what you're doing. Safe travels for you and Tommy and I pray he has finally found his forever, loving home.

Oh that Jack! I had to LOL at his statement...."just one more". And OH, how that brings memories of my own kids saying that same thing whether it be "just five more minutes in the pool mom" or "just one more time around the block on my bike mom".....sweet memories....happy days.

I certainly understand how difficult it would be to plan a lavish Christmas, and you are so right....we just never know. I'm sure the day and your mom will be honored with love energy shared and perhaps a meal together, or at least a phone call if you can't physically be together. I've only done "big" once since 2006, and don't see a "big" anytime in my near future. And that's OK! We do what we can, when we can, the best we can, for as long as we can. That is surely enough!!!

So sad that someone in one of your groups posted false information....and not just false information, but truly took advantage of the goodness of people's hearts...and at Christmas time!! GEEZ!!! We actually had a young "mom" join FMO a few years ago. She posted lots of pictures of her and her kids. She went through 2 or 3 miscarriages while a member of FMO....even posted pictures of her growing belly. It went on and on for over a year I think. Then someone recognized some of the pictures she'd been posting of herself.....it was all fake!!! The photos were of a very popular fashion model somewhere in England!!! Once this "mom" was confronted about it, she magically disappeared. It was sad because as you said, we all poured a lot of time, energy and love into responding to her journals, even some phone calls, letters, and some even sent money and baby gifts!!! We were duped. But you know what, as sad as it was....and as infuriating as it was....everything WE did, we did in LOVE and I believe that same love energy we shared was returned to us 10 fold via other moms, other happenings, and other gifts in our lives. She has to live with what she did...and we live with knowing we acted out of LOVE. And I'd rather give out of love and find out I was dubbed, than to live in fear of being dubbed and never sharing love and/or material or financial gifts. God see's it all anyway. So your blessings come regardless.

Continued prayers for Becky, Jack, and everyone. I hope Becky will do well at the rehab and am praying for strength and pain free days.

Hang in there kiddo!

A few years ago, I adopted a five year old Lab who was transported from Texas to Colorado. He is such a blessing in my life and I am so grateful to the rescuers and the transporter who brought him to me. (He is in my avatar picture). So thank you for what you are doing and I am wishing you safe travels and happy visits with your sister and that little Jack.

This season is hard and I pray a gentle one for us all including the other people in your journal.
