Another disaster for Australia
It's quite some time since I journalled and again I am asking you to add people in North Queensland in the path of our worst cyclone expected to hit tonight to your prayers. Some of you may remember that one whole branch of my family lives in Townsville where the cyclone will hit. My cousin has my 93 year old uncle staying with them for a few days until the cyclone has passed. This one is a category 5 and is predicted to do more widespread damage than Katrina did in the New Orleans area. After the terrible flooding, Queensland is to be battered again. It is going to take so much money and so long to recover.
Here, in Sydney, we are having temperatures over the century day after day, with nights not cooling down much. A change isn't expected until next Monday. School went back last Monday after the long Summer break and most schools (unless in the western suburbs or newly built) don't have airconditioning, just ceiling fans. I really feel for the kids and the teachers - I've been there so many times but, fortunately, not these days.
To finish on a happy note, our little grandaughter is one whole month old tomorrow and growing quickly. She is a little gem and only waking once through the night to be fed (she, obviously, doesn't take after her mum). Her two big brothers are so cute and sweet with her.

Hadnt heard about Sydney temperatures! Think you at least live out of the concrete jungle bit so will have place to find cool. Would think the RA would like that hot weather but suspect the barometer will clonk you. Hope all ok with your family up north.
Thanks Lois and Suzi. Have just heard this morning from Townsville family that they are all OK with minimal damage. However, my cousin said it was a very frightening night, huddling downstairs with the noise of the winds and rain and no power. In Australia only the tropical north has cyclones and they don\'t happen all that often.

I\'ll definitely be praying for all that may be affected by this horrible catagory 5 storm and the terrible flooding. I\'ve been watching reports...and my heart hurts for your country and beautiful people. Glad to hear that your cousin and family are okay.

Oh Angel I\'ve come late to this, but was thinking of you over past days, and hoping so much that you and yours remained safe. So glad your family are ok, and hoping that Queensland is able to get back on its feet before too long.

Annette and Meriel - thank you both so much. Would you believe now, there is a big bushfire south of Perth and over 40 homes have been lost!!
I also read that the Northern Hemisphere is having freezing temps and snow and ice way above the norm.

Wow.... I told someone the other day when we were having all the ice/snow that we all must have pissed God off big time..... It seems when the weather is bad it seems to hit all over. Take care.....still prayers coming from Texas! Annette
Angel , just getting around to reading this , how scarey . Since you didn\'t post after this I assume everyone is ok , Did any one have any damage to their home or surrounding area ? I pray everthing is ok. A new little one is surely a blessing , I am so happy she is happy and healthy . Gail
Thank you, Annette and Gail. Everyone in Townsville is OK but my cousins only just had power restored last night. Luckily, someone had lent them a generator. Just to update, 72 homes were lost in the Perth bushfire. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

So much crazy stuff going on down under. I\'m glad your family is OK. Also glad to learn you got some relief from the intense heat. I grew up in Saudi Arabia, where it was in the 100\'s from April through October, but except for the monsoon months (Aug-Oct), when the humidity hovered near 100%, it was a dry heat. We also had air conditioning everywhere, and were very much acclimatized. Hope you\'re feeling well. Enjoy your darling grandaughter. hugs, doug
Hi, that was so scarey about the cyclone amd the brushfires. My brother lives in Perth and we were so worried about them. But they are ok thank goodness. Hugs xx
