Another bad panic attack
It's getting where I can't go out to get groceries without a panic attack. I wasn't there more than 30 minutes before it hit. They don't have delivery services around here so I've no choice. Of course, if I had anti-anxiety meds.. but my pdoc won't prescribe anything other than anti-depressants as they hate benzos... not that my insurance will cover the benzos. Anti-depressants have NEVER worked well on me. I mean, Lithium worked.. but do you think the doctors care enough to let me have a prescription.. of course not. So, I have to suffer with the anxiety and panic attacks.

Good grief!!! I would think a doctor would be doing more to help you!!! Can you possibly change Pdocs? Do you have any kind of drug abuse in your history? I know Pdocs hate to prescribe benzos under those cicumstances.
Have you ever tried something called Buspar? I\'ve never taken it (I AM on a benzo), but I\'ve seen it mentioned many times on the board, as being used to treat anxiety. I think it\'s also an anti-depressant.
I hate anxiety and I have it all the time, but it\'s been quite a while since I\'ve had an anxiety attack. I\'m sorry you\'re having panic attacks -- I haven\'t had one in ages, but I remember what Hell it is. I\'m sorry that you have them and that there\'s no other way to get your groceries. You could probably find someone to do your shopping for you; many people are doing little side jobs like that, in this economy. If you can afford it, it would probably be worth it.
But if you tell your Pdoc that you are having frequent panic attacks, he should be trying to do something to help you!!!!
