And the stress keeps on coming...
LOL, I am actually in a good mood, despite all the craziness lately. So, the latest: My SIL, who lives in LA, this is a GOOD SIL -- my brothers' wife -- has been in Silver Spring, MD with four of her kids visiting her family. The plan was that yesterday she would rent a car and drive from SS to Monsey, NY to visit my parents there for a few days, returning to B'more on Tue to board a flight at BWI back to LA. So, yesterday, she rents a car and they are on their way. She was changing lanes when she lost control of the car, and went into the oncoming lane and broadsided a pickup truck. Thank G-d, no one was hurt! The car was totalled. She was good and shook up and decided that she was not going to re-attempt the drive. But my niece, CS really really really wanted to come. So, this morning she boarded a bus to the PA in NYC. I drove in to pick her up at 1:20 PM. We get home and my daughter is on the phone with my father. He was informing her that my mom was just readmitted to the hospital. She was in excruciating pain, her belly was distended, and they were going to do some tests to figure out what was wrong. So, we all got in the car and drove to Monsey, to the hospital. We arrive and she was just going out for a CAT scan. So, we knew it would be a while so we went out to eat. A place called The Purple Pear. (Stupid name..) Anyway, we get back to the hospital to find that she was being prepped for surgery! They detected something was "leaking" from somewhere and needed to get in to find it and fix it. They suspected a perforated bowel. Oh. My. God. !!! They told us there was a chance she would wake up and be "on a bag". Oh. My. God. !!!My poor mother!!! (She is a TERRIBLE patient, this would be just awful for her -- and my dad who has to live with her!). Anyway, we had the baby with us so we could not stay. My father stayed and I brought everyone back home and then immediately got online to post to my community board for people to pray for my mom. Shortly thereafter, I get a call from my dad. He tells me, it was NOT a perforated bowel (thank you G-d!), it was an ulcerated stomach! Ok, so an ulcer is not good. But it is far better than a perforated bowel. They patched her up. She is in ICU now, and will prob be in ICU for about 2 days and then in the hospital for about 6 days. She also has a minor infection of the wound from the first surgery she had last week. This has been the MOST eventful year of my life. I cannot believe how much has happened this year. It has been unbelievable. But now, I know why G-d planned for me to lose my job: so I could spend more time with my kids, my INCREDIBLE grandson, and to have the time to deal with all this other stuff, my mother, my SIL, etc etc etc. At this point, I expect more to happen between now and Rosh Hashanah. My niece, T, got engaged two weeks ago, and the wedding is going to be in October, in Israel. So, I will once again be traveling to Israel, this time for my niece's wedding. I hope my mom will be well enough to go. All I want is a SIMPLE, QUIET, UNEVENTFUL life. Is that actually possible??? Amazing. I am amazed at myself. I think I have been quite strong with all this going on in my life. I am proud of myself. Crazy stuff.
