an up down day

It has been a bit of an emotional day today.  I went out for lunch with two friends who knew Lisa well, Lorraine and Darlene.  Darlene drove and dropped us off and went to park the car.  While she was gone, Lorraine apologized for not calling me for awhile.  I laughed and said that I hadn't called her so that was okay.  She then said that she felt bad because Lisa told her that if anything happened she wanted Lorraine to look after me.  She said "Mum will look after Dad but she needs someone to look after her".  Lorraine is a dear friend.  She was the one who came to stay with me when I got the call that Lisa had a cardiac arrest.  Apparently when I sounded down or upset on the phone, Lisa would call Lorraine and ask her to check on me.  So needless to say, Lorraine and I had a cry together.
When I got home, I had a good cry.  I have thought all along that Lisa knew she would die young.  This just confirmed it once again.
The other thing Lisa told her was that she figured Beth would go after Harvey if anything happened.  I told her that she was mistaken - it was Marta.  Lorraine asked if Marta had a facelift.  I said no.  Apparently Lisa described her as the one who had work done - a face lift.  Well I had heard about the cosmetic surgery but not that she had the hots for Harvey.  Beth assured me that getting together with Harvey had not been her intention but "It just happened". I am a pretty trusting person so I beleived her.  Oh well, Cevyn likes her so I am okay.
This evening my neighbor called to ask me if I wanted to go over and watch 'Hugo" with her and her husband (Joe is still in LA - home tomorrow).  It was a lovely movie.  I can see why it was nominated for awards.  That got my mind off things.  But now I am having trouble sleeping.  Oh well, I can sleep in.
My Precious Lisa:  I miss you so much tonight.  You would have loved lunch with us. We used to have a great time going out for meals with Lorraine and Darlene and then to the dumbest movie we could find.  The best was "Hey Dude Where's My Car".  I think all the teens in the crowd thought the old folks had gone off their rockers. I love you forever. Mum

It sounds as if the day was a hodgepodge of emotions. That seems to be typical for a mom after losing a child. We must constantly go with the flow. I hope today is a good day. Take care...love and hugs,..Karen

I love getting together with Melissa\'s friends....it\'s so nice to know that they have a history with her also. We always talk and laugh about the things she said or did. Instead of it being a cry feast, it\'s a laugh fest....I know she is constantly on their minds too. Hugs, Connie

Sounds as though Lisa had some good friends - you, too! I\'m glad you got to see them and laugh and cry together....both bittersweet and therapeutic at the same time. I am up in the air about seeing David\'s friends - mostly nice but sometimes just reminds me all the more of what I have lost ~ love Joanna
P.S. I just saw Hugo, too - loved it!

I can certainly understand the ups and downs of your day!
That was very interesting, about that conversation Lisa had with Lorraine, Marlene. YES, Lisa had an idea that something was up...that is for sure...and she wanted you provided for, as best she could assure--now THAT is love!
My late husband (out of the blue) said he thought I should \"remarry if anything happened to him\" and that was extremely helpful to me when I did remarry...at some level \"THEY KNOW!!!\" Love to you... and I also thought that Dude movie was a hoot! :-) Donna

Marlene, I know the waves of pain, the ups and downs and its not easy. I feel that somehow my son knew he would die young too because of some things he had said...sigh. We won\'t know for sure until we see them again.
As for Beth...shame on her for going after Harvey if that is what she did but you are wise. The important thing is that she is good to Cevyn and we have to let go of what we cannot control anyway or we will just cause ourselves more pain. And it is clear how much Lisa loved you since she asked Lorraine to check in on you; always thinking of you. What a wonderful young woman your daughter was...I know how it hurts and my heart goes out to you. What a profound loss. Love and tight hugs, Linda

It sure does sound like Lisa had some intuition about what was going to happen. Hope you are feeling better today. It took me a while to get to reading your journal. Sending love and hugs, Terry

The people who \'look after\' someone else after a loss are special, in my view. They are the hearts and hands of the divine and of the spirit of love. We are all that person, any time we come here to share the pathway...

Marlene,
It is a blessing to good friends. My father has a \"foster family\" that looks after him and I am grateful since he is in another state. (I am an only child.) I am glad you here on FMO. I am hoping for some gentle days for you.
With love,
Leda
